2007 IR Photo Contest/User Poll
August 16, 2007Back during the first part of the month we noticed that one of the trail cam manufactures had chosen a couple of our sample pictures from our site to demonstrate on their web site that the IR flash will scare deer.
We will be the first to go along with this because we have documented this several times. They obviously made a bad choice of pictures for their example, because there is an 8 minute period before the deer actually spooked.
This cam was located about 150 feet out the back door of my (Anthony’s) house and at the time of the evening there are folks coming and going so the deer being spooked was not as a result of the flash but due to the human traffic close to the feeder.
Just below these borrowed sample pictures on their web site were a set of three pictures displaying their cams picture quality. We decided to borrow one of these pictures and place it in a poll to see just how their pictures stacked up against the pictures taken by other IR cameras.
Pictures were chosen at random and were good examples of each cameras ability, with the exception of one which was the new WV2 IR which had just been received and we had little material for examples.
We received a total of 69 votes from folks that had no idea of what cameras had taken any of the pictures.
The borrowed example from the other web sites camera received no votes, Predator Evolution and the winner, Stealth IR1, actually received 22 votes.
This has been an interesting test and we thank all participants for their time and interest to keep this going.
