2008 Rumor Mill

We find that in our position we hear rumors from time to time and decided we would post pertinent info here.

Reconyx
 vs Predator

1-12-2008  Way back in the corner of the chasingame domain where all the wires and cables seem to come to a head in one area, these all are connected to different communication devices. This past week or so we have had a run of information that would probably come under the heading of rumors. This is not entirely unusual because many folks communicate with us about different things that are related to the trail camera industry. We rarely pay much attention to these happenings but when it comes at us from different directions by folks that have nothing to gain by informing us about certain suspected issues. I then began to try to follow this developing set of rumors to get a feel as to the validity of the claims. Of course we do not have any way to go into the inner workings of selected manufacturing plants so what we have been lead to believe is going to have to be up to everyone’s own conclusion.

It appears that the good folks that we were really looking forward their latest production, after fielding it and taking a string of criticisms have gone in and made all those corrections and is about to tell the world about this. Some where back in time it appears that these same folks might have had their hand in someone’s cookie jar. What we have heard and read on forums is that there seems to be significant examples of where specific technologies that the Reconyx folks have been using for years that have mysteriously found their way into the Predator products.

As I said before, this determination is solely up to your own interpretation. Should you be one of the lucky folks that have possession of both the Reconyx and Predator cameras this should be fairly easy to figure out if you have a pretty good working knowledge of electronics. We hope that this does not prove to be true, but the folks in the industry that have already looked at this, believe that the there is a remarkable amount of duplicate technology to be an accident. Let us hear from you talented camera guru’s that have the need to look inside everything they buy just to see what makes it go “click”. We, also have a need to know more about this alleged issue.
