A little over ten years ago I was blessed with a small female Sharpei named Ellie Mae (Pedros to Bill).

She was pretty adventurous and would go on treks with me back packing where she would carry her own weight and bring to the out back her own groceries and would be the alert camp watcher. She was always the friend that would set at the gate and raise hell until I could get out of the truck and go give her a little attention. The days when the Georgia thunder storms kept her on edge she would try to escape by eating some of the trim around the doors. She was constant companion and loyal to the end. She succumb to a cancer that caused her bladder to close and she could not empty it. A flying trip from Augusta to a clinic in Athens, Ga failed to produce a solution and we were forced to have her put down. This girl was featured in the front page pictures when we first started the site and a number of folks commented on her. She is at rest now and will have her marker soon. She will be truly missed.
