Admittedly the s600 is a great cam but does anyone feel that many pictures are missed because of the "wake up" time every time an animal triggers the cam? When arriving to change SD cards, it seems I could walk right through the field of view without the cam going off? Another concern is the time to recharge for the next flash from the first picture to the next?

Jim.I don't know about all S600's but I know for sure that my first one Johnnydeerhunter built me that i will have 2 pics before getting past it.
I have another S600 that is clicking them off about every 5 to 7 seconds between flashes. This one surprised me.Now this is with newly charged batteries too.I can tell by the pic times that the lower the batteries get the longer it takes to build up for the next flash.
The wakeup time does take longer than some commercial cams but there is no comparision after that.
There is so much I don't know about the homebrews or how it is done.I know there is a Fast hack and settings to some of the boards that make them faster too.
I am soon going to be finding out how the XLP boards are. They are suppose to be pic taking machines. :)

David, I think your first one is the yeti fast hack. There are some s600's that are faster then others. I think you will be very happy with the XLP board, it's a little different then other boards but you will get a ton of pictures.

Jim, if you are walking towards your camera it will have a hard time picking you up, all pirs are like that, they sense better with side to side movement. The s600 is definitely not as speed demon but with good attention paid to the setup you should have no issues.

Another thing to keep in mind are the camera settings, running the cam on full auto will slow it down a tad as well as leaving the lcd screen on. If using the HPWA fresnel lens you can take the foam out of the inside and it will sense animals sooner but you may get pictures with the subject outside the field of view of the camera.

If I had to chose only one camera to use for all my needs it would be the s600, when I first started building one of the suppliers told me the s600 is the best trail cam no question, he was right and he and I have become good friend over the years. Actually all the suppliers are good guys and I consider them friends.

What do you mean exactly with this statement? Is it different to the settings that you sent me?

The cam I sent you should be set to get you the best and fastest trigger times, you should be good to go.
