I ordered 50 of these off eBay from montanafreak after seeing a few people here using them. Have to say I'm not to impressed with him yet. Been almost two weeks with no contact or notification on the status of the order. Seen a vendor on here ordered some roughly the same time I did and have gotten theirs a weeka ago based on the feedback left. I've sent him an email so I hope something happens soon. Just a word of caution and my experience with him so far.

That's surprising! I have had no issues with him. What was the delivery date given?

Expected delivery was May 2-5. No contact from him since I bought them. Its not that I need them at this moment. Just wanting some form of communication. So I know the status of my order. I seen one feedback from last November where a individual had to open a case before they got the product from him. That took 4 weeks before they received theirs. I just don't want to do that to someone unless I have to. There may be a logical explanation for the delay. If I don't hear from him I will though.

Yea, with 100% positive feedback you don't expect to have an issue at all. BTW, I use hardened washers (I believe 5/16") with the API bolts. With the small bolt heads the washers cover a lot more surface area of the loc-box.

Thanks, I remember reading that somewhere. Although I have yet to get them, I will. It does seem to be a good idea and should make it a little harder for the potential thieves. Thats if I ever receive the lag bolts. I was really looking forward to these because all the others I have tried have broken and it seems they can only be used once. I don't know how many I have broken in trees and I don't like that.

I'm having good luck with regular stainless steel lag bolts with a lock box. At first I tried galvanized lag bolts. SNAP!!

Well I guess I should have given them more time. They arrived today in the mail. Just wish they could have sent out an email stating the actual delivery and a confirmation for the order. Then I wouldn't have been thinking that I may have been had. All in all though, they definitely look like they could take a beating. Very heavy duty which is what I wanted.

Glad to hear you got 'em! Love the taller threads and the fact they are case hardened! Did he send you a "bonus"?

Question.. When you bolt the case to the tree directly, how do you adjust the camera angle up n down? Do you use two bolts? I also assume you have to padlock the case? :?:

I used the stainless seel lags for a while. They aren't nearly as strong. Rocky, the API lags are $35.00 for 50 with free shipping. (Actually he sent an extra 10 with mine!) Jim, I use a small limb to make minor adjustments and 2 bolts. Once set, I never need to adjust the camera position again. Yes, I use padlocks with hardened shackles, painted with stone spatter paint.

When I lag my lock box to a tree, I always find a tree with the perfect angle so the back of the lock box will be completely flush with the tree. I think if you leave a space between the lock box and the tree it would make it that much easier to get a hack saw in there to cut the lag bolts. Anything to slow a thief down and make him think about moving on to an easier set up to rip off.

I try to find a tree that is angled the way I need it. Although, I have used other small branches to behind the box to adjust if necessary. I also use the python cable even though I hear they are easy to cut. Will slow them down a little bit but if they really want it. Then its going to be theirs anyhow. Just making it a little bit harder for them. That and I need the boxes to keep my cameras safe from the bears.

I can only assume you are pulling my leg.. They don't grow trees that are in the best position or the perfect angle here in NY State my friend! 8)
