It won't guard against bolt cutters but works well otherwise. You can get the materials at a hardware store for 4.00. The cables make a good carrying handle too. I use a bungee cord to hold it to the tree. The cables are about 24" long to allow the camera room to open. A hammer and a flat head screwdriver will close the aluminum grommet.

I then add a Python cable around the front.

I drill one hole in my moultries front case side in the battery area below the PIR a few inch's and install one eyebolt $2 from hardware store. I then seal the hole and 3D camo the case and paint to match my area trees. A python locking cable through the eye bolt locks the case to the tree. I will get a picture later this week when checking my cams to post. It is very easy takes a few minutes to drill, eyebolt and seal with goop let dry 24hrs.

I've seen that one before or one just like it. Looks good.
That is for sure a better way of doing it but it seems like I are forever taking cams back to Walmart. They might not like the liq. nails look as much as us. Before I take a cam back I clean it up and put it in the original box. They like the look better.
I once took a Moultrie film cam back after it quit working. I had camoed it with tape and it looked ragged. I almost didn't get to exchange that one.
For some reason the gal at the exchange counter cannot appreciate a good camo job. :D

You are right I doubt walmart will find my work as pretty as I do. I test the cams first to make sure they are working right and then camo and eyebolt after words. Image[/img]

I would turn it on, then close the case and place the python cable around it, etc... shouldn't this work ?

Looks like the Moultrie is going to get a makeover when it comes home...at least that'll make someone hoping to steal it work a little bit

code... i am not the smartest when its comes to rigging stuff up. can you give me a little more on the specs of it.
1. how big is the eye bolt
2.how far down are you drilling the hole fron the ir ( Does the 6v battery not get in the way of the eye bolt)
3. what size drill bit you used
4. what are you using to seel the hole with (super glue)
any other info will be appreciated!!! thanks for the great idea
BTY can you use the same idea for the stealth w2????
I am bringing my cam home tommorrow so i will have it in front of me!

I buy a 1/4inch eyebolt(drill bit 1/4") and extra nut and washer that fits. Get the shortest eyebolt you can or you may have to cut some of it off to make it short enough so it does not hit the battery. I then look for the spot to drill hole it is easy to tell just look at my picture and look inside/outside the camera and make sure it il within the battery area not the control panel. The upper part of the battery area is best if it is to low it does not have enough of the camera to hold well to the tree. I drill the hole make sure everything fits and works well and then to seal I put L-nails around the holes front and back of door and then run the eye bolt into place with a nut on the front side of the case so you can tighten front and rear not to make it tight and lock and place. I also add a washer and nut on back side and tighten front nut and rear nut unit it fits real tight. I then go ahead and put extra L-nails around the front eyebolt for extra water proofing and do the case painting. Be sure to cover the lens and PIR with tape so no paint gets on them. this sounds far harder than it is it only takes about 3-5minutes start to finish the first time I did it. I have all my cams in the woods right now so I can't measure it all. Also
when mounting to a tree in the woods I use two small wires to attached the cam to the tree and then run the python cable through the eyebolt. This way the cam says in place when you remove the cable to check the cam no readjusting the camera angle every time you pull the card.

Parts: One eyebolt, two nuts and one small washer ,L-nails, flat camo spray paints. On painting I spray a light coat of brown and then paint other colors by hand with a small brush or Q-tips to blend some color in. I just use spray paint I will spray green, brown and black colors togather on a paper plate and mix them to get different colors and shades and then put alittle here and there on the camera and it gets a nice blurr of colors and shades.

After the hole is drilled and I checked the eyebolt to work and not hit battery, I then put L-nails before I run eye bolt through for good and after wards also to be sure it is sealed good.

Code1, another thing that you might want to try is to vasoline the portions that you do not want to get paint on. works well and you do not have any paint spray getting around the tape edges. :)

I don't get what the cables are for... do they wrap around the back of the tree? I'll be getting my first camera soon, so I don't have any experience with this stuff.
