i have a recon cam that takes 8 D cell batteries its the older model that does not have an external battery port.It has 1 red wire & 1 black wire going to the batteries.I am thinking i can go to radio shack and get me a plug & splice into these two wires to hook this up on an external 12 voly battery. is this correct?

after looking at it.It takes 6 D cell batteries & that equals 9 volts.
