I like the Spypoint extenders, but I do not like the big head on the trigger cable. It's hard to attach it to some cameras, it blocks a lot of the camera LED's and Uglu does not seem to stick to it very well. So, I have several extra Uway sensor cables lying around and decided to swap them out in place of the Spypoint sensor cable.

That's the one thing I hate about my SpyPoint's sensor. It's huge! It covers most of my Acorn's LED array. A few times the sensor slid over enough on the LED's to cover the day/night sensor embedded within the LED's. When that happens, I get white pictures all day.

Neat. Whish model Reconyx? Did the spypoint extender dramatically increase the night pics and flash range on the Reconyx?
Could you please post a few sample picture before and after for comparison?

Thanks

another option would be to just trim the excess plastic from the spypoint's sensor. The extra plastic is there to support the bungee cord mounting.

I found that the Acorn I have doesn't illuminate the same everytime and especially if the batteries are getting low. I checked the 2-6v's on Sunday and they were 6.3v. I replaced the extender and the trigger batteries to after checking them. The extender fired once and then has stopped. I notice that the Acorns glow is different sometimes now that the only glow is coming from it.

So what I'm getting at is, if the trigger eye on mine isn't placed away from the IR's and is closer to a single IR it might not trigger my unit as mentioned before when I had those extender issues. The Acorn is still sending pics but the IR's are too dull evidently. I'll switch out the 6v's this weekend for a single 6v SLA and check the results again.

If you trim the plastic away from the eye on the Spypoint you better be very careful as the plastic mold may not cooperate
well and ruin it. I think modifying it would void its warrenty too.

You'd have to cut it carefully, maybe a dremel with a cutoff wheel, or a hacksaw blade. I'm waiting until mine is off warranty. I like the adding a uway wire and sensor, it's clean and professional looking. Thanks for posting the mod FL.

Slay, I did not notice the Spypoint dramatically increasing the night pictures on the Reconyx, but I do think it helps.
Also, I did not notice much difference when the black flash was set to 50 vs. 100 (running alk. D cells).
Since the Spypoint extender is wireless, my setups now have me using the "red glow" version
because I can place them up 12 to 15 feet up a tree and the deer dont seem to notice them that much.

Cracker, that Extender sure gives your camera better detailed pictures than without. I do like the idea of the sensor wire switch out. I'll have to wait until my warrenty is out also.

Clean work on the mod.

I dunno, I think it looks a bit cleaner and brighter.
So this is an IR witha black flash camera cxorrect?
Thats pretty good, though it certainly defeats the covert objective. Mounting it above the sight plane is a good idea.

Thats correct and Reconyx RC 60 is set to "MAX" range. Here it is with the Spypoint black flash IR.
I see very little difference between the 50 and 100 setting on the extender.

I don't see any difference either between the 50 LED and the 100 LED option on my SpyPoint Low Glow IR Extender.

It doesn't seem to appear that the setting shows any improvement. Have you tried your 100 setting on a more open of a target like a food plot to see if the distant objects are more illuminated? I'm sure you have as you ask me to use the 50 setting to see if I see a difference. I'll need to conduct that test in the dark garage like before.

@ G-Man, yes, I tried the 50/100 test in an open field and there is no difference.
