The remote works fine and outside you should be able to get 300 ft. The problem I have is the remote eats its battery in about 3 days. I have learned to take the battery out and turn it around when not using it. Also need to be aware that it will take about 30 mins to download 8 meg of videos. The remote only turns the interface on. When done downloading images and disconnect the computer the interface will turn itself off or time out. Sometimes that is an issue.
