In response to some queries lately concerning the customer service received from StealthCam by cameras users here, I queried my contact at StealthCam for a comment. Here is what they stated:

Stealthcam Manager of customer Service wrote:
“GSM Outdoors continues to strive to provide outstanding customer service. From August through December we receive a high volume of calls and your waiting time may be longer than usual. We thank you for your understanding and patience. Every customer is very important to us. We also have answers to some commonly asked questions on our websites located under the support tab.”

I continue to strive to loose 20 lbs. From August through December I receive a high volume of opportunities to consume food, and my consumption may have been more than usual. I thank you for your understanding and patience. Every pound i consider loosing is very important to me. I also have a list of foods I don't like posted on my web site located under the support tab.

Jack...Thats' funny

High volume of calls!!!!

Does that suggest they have a high amount of warranty claims for their wonderful products... get in line and take a number???

I have had numerous stealthcams, starting with the old 35mm cameras. All of them have been junk. Their trigger speed has been too slow, their PIR is questionable and the life expectancy is also poor. They do not offer a repair service, but do offer an exchange service at a price approaching the cost of a new camera, yet only will provide a 60 day warranty on these cameras.

Yes, they did announce it, due to negative response to their 90 day warranty. Every Stealth Cam I own, has been replaced under warranty, and several of them more than once. I would never buy another, but if I could salvage something from the ones I have, cheaply, I would do that. As their cameras are a plethora of problems, I have no intention of spending much on them.

I feel your pain! My first and only Stealth was a Prowler. I paid to ship it back to them 3 times during the warranty. They were so slow with returns, I never did get a working camera. Finally on the last return, they told me the camera was out of warranty even though they had never delivered a working product and they had the camera for much more of the warranty period than I did. The CS person talked to a manager and decided to do me a "favor" and replace the camera with refurbished "b-stock". The one I ended up with is a flip of a coin as to when it works.

All of the low end camera companies have pretty poor Quality Control, however GSM is a real stand-out!

My reason for avoiding Stealth has to do more with how I was treated during the returns than anything else.

Thanks,

Jack

Actually, with the first returns, they were very helpful. Then as the cameras continued to fail, they would not even return my emails or phone calls. And what is really strange, is that I have never known any company that did not offer a repair service. I would have thought someone could have told me where to send it for a PIR repair!

Only the higher end companies like Reconyx and BEC build cameras that are worth repairing and both companies will. The actual product cost of the low end cameras is dwarfed by other costs like shipping, packaging, marketing, etc; It is less expensive for these companies to simply replace cameras with new ones than it is to expend the labor to diagnose and repair them. Some collect them up and ship them back oversea to be refurbished.

They may as well sell them overseas.Crazy if they think I am buying another StealthCam. I had good luck with a couple of their cams(I230IR and WD2) but got burned on the 450's and their C/S(or lack of it). Never again!

I have not had any good experience with the longevity of the WD2X. Now, I have got about 1 season out of the V390Z. I keep this unopened for a year and a half, trying to sell it on ebay. The largest offer I got was $65. I should have took it.

Well I have had nothing but problems with them to. just sent another E-mail "Hello I am having problems with my trail camera want to know if I should send it in or what? The camera is model stc-dvir5 s/n c227940. This camera was sent to me on 8/26/09. This camera was sent to me as a replacement for my other camera that was on ly a couple months old ( 1430 model) that would not work correctly. My current camera wants to keep taking pics of nothing. It is like the sensor is to sensitive and then wont stop taking pics till memory card is full. I just pulled from woods and my 2 gig card was completely full of nothing, mostly black pics. I have had nothing but bad luck from these stealth cams The 1430 that I first bought was sent back three times and the problem was never corrected that is why I was sent this model. This model worked for the first few weeks I had it then I did not put out during hunting season last month. Just so you know a little about my background i run cameras on my lease pretty much year round. I have a few different makes and this is the reason that keeps me from purchasing more Stealth's.I had a older Moultrie set up next to this one to make compare and it did not have any false triggers. There was no brush in front etc. that would make it have a false trigger either.Well hopefully we can resolve this problem shortly."
