Every so often during the evening the security lighting is triggered at the back of the bungalow where I live. I have to get up once or twice during the night and as I pass the back door the security lighting comes on again. I suspect that it is a cat, hedgehog or possibly even a fox sniffing round the dustbin outside the back door but it’s impossible for me to see what it is because the security lighting sensor is on the corner of the bungalow which means that whatever it is has moved past it. I would like to find a device which is capable of taking a photograph of whatever it is because it intrigues me.
A secondary interest is a device that can be set up covering the back and the front of the bungalow in the belief that it is not possible to be completely burglar proof but in the event of being burgled it would be nice to catch them on camera but that is for the future in at the moment I will put my trust in a trusty 12 bore.

I suggest cameras that send the photos immediately to your computer! That way if they are damaged or stolen, you may still have photos/videos of the perpetrator! You also want as good a resolution as you can get!

Welcome to the forum.
There is lots of choices in cameras that you can choose from.Lot of cameras around the 100.00 range that would do the job for you.To name a few,Spypoint FLA,Primos 36 & 46,Stealth 890,Covert 3.0 etc.
All of these cameras ar IR cameras except the Stealth 890 which is white flash.
Or you can go up around the 150 to 200.00 ones and get some very good ones. And some bad ones too.
I would suggest something cheap to see how well you like them.If this is the only thing you are going to use it for I think they would be good to start with.

I only intend to use the camera to identify what is triggering the intruder light so it doesn’t seem to make sense to me to pay more than is necessary. Having said that I know that there are some dear wandering about the field to the rear of the bungalow but I would assume one would have to pay a considerable amount to achieve the quality I see under the name throne303

Are you sure a creature is triggering the light?
Are you urban or rural?
I'm not so sure that a trail camera will answer your problem, you know the light is coming on yet you cannot see anything, seems to me it is false triggers that could be caused by a number of reasons.
I think I'd try a new security sensor first, or look to see if the existing one has adjustable sensitivity.

We are urban and I know that something is triggering the light because I checked its sensitivity.

I would look for last years DLC Covert CA 3.0(or NV 3.0) as you should be able to find a very reasonable price on a camera that will do everything you seem to need and does take decent photos and also has been pretty reliable - also it is very small and fairly simple to use -though it does use a plug in remote to change settings(the remote can also be used to view pics).

Talk to your hunting friends, you may have someone that would be willing to assist you in determining your gremlin without having to actually purchase something for such a short term. I have actually lent this assistance several times.[/b]

Jim,
Could I borrow your 2 466's for lets say 2 years? I want to make sure they are what I want before I buy one. Please throw in a couple chargers and 4 sets of rechargeable batteries too. Thanks. Us NY guys got to help each other out. :D
