Hi
I am quite new on the board looking for information to be able to buy a good cam for the next years, but that is rather difficult. The scouting cameras start to be popular in Norway and different types available, but they are rather expensive. Some cams have been looking promising, but I have been scared after reading reports about Cudderback Attack and Bushnell Trophy.
In my area we have a group of wolfs in the woods not fare from here mainly living of moose. Hunters get their dogs killed by the wolfs when hunting- it takes only minutes. In Norway it`s not allowed to hunt the wolfs, except for special reasons. It could be very interesting to place a camera and try to get some pictures. For the farmers in the area they always are a treat.

What am I going to buy? I want a cam able to stand by over a long period (probably with 12V separate connection), no flash scaring the animals, price about $200, and where do I find a vendor/trader willing to export a single cam as a start? I want to by from US due to price. Looking forward to your reply.

Regards
Morten

Your best bet is a Bushnell 466C. It is a low glow camera and has gotten very good reviews from the folks here that own them...including myself. I believe Bee Busy Outdoors ships outside the US and he is a frequent forum visitor here.

Here is a link to the camera on his site http://www.bbotrailcams.com/Bushnell-Trophy-Cam-HD-720p-Low-Glow-IR-Trail-Came-p/bbo119466c.htm

This camera also has 720p HD video with sound and exceptional battery life. You can utilize the forum search feature to find many video and picture samples from the camera as well.

Dear hunters.
Thank you for interesting replies. In former jobs I have been purchasing goods from different sources and have the know how to find producers of f.ex. cameras. Since I joined the fora some hours ago I have been looking for an excellent and reliable model like Little Acorn and the Bushnell models to avoid buying some crap from China which last 2 months. After searching around on net I have to admit and am sorry to say, Bushnell types, Old boys out door`s and Moultries so fare are made in Peoples Republic of China when it comes to the rock bottom. Same models are offered with an another name and to lower prices and the specs are more or less the same.
In US and Europe we have a seriously problem, guys, we move all the production jobs to China and build up a super power but we do not see it at the moment. One day it will hit us in the neck. This is the main reason for a lot of your and our economic problems. An example: My uncle lived in Chicago for 40 years selling socks from Norway. He can tell you that US do not have one single domestic sock factory any more - all is moved to China/fare east. Imagine an international conflict Western countries/China and you do not even have socks in your hunting boots  . This belongs probably to an another fora, but it shows for sure that the Chinese have a hook into us even when we speak about socks and trail cameras we believe has an US origin. Probably we only can see a short time benefit and earning a lot of money by importing cheap and selling high price, but what do we pay with when the last job is gone?
So then I have to go back to the start line searching for a good cam. Perhaps a home brewed cam with PRC components will be the end solution? :(

Best regards

Welcome to the forum.
Sony cameras are the most widely used in Homebrew cameras but I think they are made in Japan. If you are just wanting a camera made in the USA I think your choice is narrowed down to a Reconyx. They don't hit you in the neck;just the wallet.

Given your criteria for price you may as well end your search. A homebrew camera will be your best choice but it will be tough to get a good one built for $200. As far as american made Reconyx or BEC is your only option and with a price tag between $450 and $1000 for their different models.
