Folks, I'm not trying to create a bandwagon for people to jump on. I'm just really disappointed and frustrated in Moultrie's track record of not being able to manufacture a camera that is realiable.

Once again, I'm not trying to make this a bash session. I know there are many other cam manufacturers out there and I should just move on. But, the fact is, I really thought that Moultrie had/has some of the best cameras on the market.

Now, I simply want to get a consensus of how many folks have had problems with Moultrie cams.

If you choose to vote, thanks in advance for participating.

Tony

I would expect that any manufacturer you proposed a poll like this for would get 100% "yes". I dont know if the results will show anything really.

You're probably right but it's a simple "yes" or "no" and it's anonymous. Hopefully, I'll get a few votes and it will not be 100% yes. From what I've seen on your forum, people are not afraid to honest.
If people w/out the same problems, that so many have experienced, choose not to vote, then so be it. If the people that have had the same problems choose not to vote, then so be it. I can only hope that folks will take just a moment to simply answer the question.

Yesterday I was thinking of creating a forum just for polls and keep them all together. Do you think that would be interesting ? Right now after they get some age on them they are lost in the shuffle but if all polls went into one forum users could look and see all the info in one place.

Lots of these polls have very intersting results and its an underutilized feature I believe.

your thoughts ?

I've had problems with Moultries before. However, I've had problems with all of the brands I use, including Leaf River and Stealth.

1) Stealth 35mm.

It burned the batteries in a couple of days and triggered real slow. It never worked right.

2) Leaf River IR 2005 model.

It would work for a few months at the time and then would burn out the batteries in a couple of days. I think LR is getting this fixed however with the battery cable updates. I sent this cam back to them last week.

3) Moultrie Game Spy 200

It would white out morning and evening pictures. I sent it back three times and got new cams each time. No fix. I retired this cam and now use it just to play around with.

4) Leaf River IR 2006 model

No major trouble, although sometimes it doesn't save the pics to the card. Its also at the LR headquarters getting the battery wires tuned up.

5) Stealthcam I390

No trouble. Slow trigger but otherwise seems reliable.

6) Moultrie I-40

Worked like a charm until I updated it. After the update it still worked, but it didn't sense near as far or as consistently. Its off at Moultrie hopefully getting fixed.

7) Moutlrie I-40

No trouble.

So in all, most of my cams have given me some trouble at some point. However, it seems that newer cams don't give me near the trouble as older cams from a few years ago. I think the technology is getting year by year.

I really like the new Moultries. My two I-40s have worked well. Only the update gave me trouble. But for a lot of people the update seemed to solve their whiteout problems. Overall I can't complain.

Anthony, I see a benefit in a poll forum. If nothing else, it's an avenue for folks to get quick, simple feed back. Also, people may want to get a general consensus on a topic or idea.

I don't follow other camera manufacturers as close as I do Moultrie but I have followed CG's forums enough to know that there are issues with all brand of cams. It just seems that EVERY camera Moultrie comes out with has some kind of flaw...sometimes minor and sometimes major.
Who knows, maybe they will eventually figure it all out. (Until then, I'm not spending another dime chasing my tail with their cameras.)

So...when we building another one? I think we need to do one with external batts for your protein feeder...more power, bigger memory cards, more pics of ole mossy horns!

i have a i-40 now and taken roughly 200 pictures. I love it(bought it by the reviews on this forum). Sounds like the older cam's have issues.

My only gripe about it at dusk/dawn it will switch to IR mode. But the times it has happened to me it was a cloudy day 30 minutes before dark. I would have been pissed if it was taking IR pictures at Noon. Plus i havent updated and dont plan on it.

For Moultrie's and their customer's sake, I hope you're right about only the older cams having issues.

To all that have participated or will possibly take part in this poll...should I have been more specific in my question? For example, should I have said, "If you own or have owned a Moultrie cam, have you had and/or are you experiencing any problems?

I have a sneaky suspicion that people might be voting "no" simply because they have never actually owned a Moultrie.

I voted no because I have a Moultrie I40 and have had no problems with it. Though it's still on it's first set of batteries (since Aug 25- this is a good thing!). It has taken probably 1500 pics and maybe 100+ videos. I did do the update even though I wasn't having a serious whiteout issue, I did have a few and since doing the update I haven't had any. It does take a few IR pics after daylight but within 1/2 hour of sun up it normally is taking color pics, unless it's very overcast.

I have a LR camera and a homebrew (Pixcontroller/Oly D380) and the Moultrie IMHO is a great cam, bang for the buck.

Here's some Twilight Zone stuff...Instead of letting the Moultrie gather dust and having to deal with Moultrie's CS, I got with my Wal Mart friends (I know a lot of the dept managers and Customer Service folks because of the line of work I'm in) and they made sure I didn't have any problems exchanging the cam. (Actually, WM gave me no problem and I didn't even have to use my allies.)
So, I get home and start setting up the new camera. I put in the SD card that was in the cam that stopped working. I see there are 119 pics on this card. Knowing that this card was empty when I put it into the Moultrie before it crashed, I was stumped. I go to the computer and look at the pics from the card AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS STRANGE...THERE ARE 119 PICS FROM MY PROTEIN FEEDER.
!!!Roscoe as my witness, because he had his laptop; there were no pics on this card after we checked the Moultrie and realized that it was not working. Even after I get home and check the card again, there is an empty card.!!!

My very 1st I-60 locked up on me about 10 minutes after powering up. Wound up taking it back to WM and swapping it for another one. Did the updates on it and have no issues with it except video at night when it was cold and batteries at 80%. Anyway because of the 1st issue I found Chasingame and have been hooked ever since.

BTW, I think having polls under 1 index would be a help. My 2cents worth. 8)
