 Got a couple SG550's......and had a few Moultries.......So I bought a MOULTRIE VIEWER, that you hook into the camera so that you can view the pix without pulling the cards etc.... I just wanted to say that I've used this on the SG550's and It's AWESOME!! :!: :!:

You can set up your cam while viewing in live mode and see what your going to see when the pix are taken or vid. Anywho, the little Moultrie viewer works with the SG550, and they've been on sale at Wally World for 35 Bones....... FYI

Has anyone tried the Cuddeback Viewer?

I bought the Bushnell one but it only takes cards up to 512K.

Oh yeah, that's the right one. Did they have it on sale there??? Seems to me that every Wmrt I go to has had these on sale. I need to buy a couple more, keep one in my 4whlr, one in the truck and one in the camera carry backpack.... I really like the way it helps you set the SG550 up, since there is no Laser to set the point of view... :)

I had to check last nigt, walked in.. straight to the hunting section.. Nothing, naddda, Zippo.. not even a trail cam.

the website shows it... The moultrie website has the same one, listed as sale price of walmart. So.. more walking for me.. swap chips.. then insert into laptop in the truck..

but will keep eye's open for it.. as with digital camera's, they are dropping in cost really fast.

You guys must use trail cameras differently than I do. The last thing I want to do is to spend a bunch of time stinking up my camera site, especially near or during the season. I want to pop out the SD card, stick in a new one, and get the heck out of there. If I were looking for a field viewer, it would not be one that plugs into the camera, it would be one that I could pop and SD card in. Perhaps I misunderstand how the viewer that your talking about works, or perhaps you use your cameras differently than I do.

I use mine for acouple of reasons. First to see what is on the camera. I would rather know what is going by my stand while I'm there, then when I get home. Could you imagine going up to your stand in the morning and sitting til 10, pulling your card going home and when you get home and look at the pics there is the buck your after going by at 11 the last couple of days. Would have been nice to know that why you where there.
Second reason is for security, if I see someone messing with my camera I pull the camera. I had this happen two years ago, guy was trying to get my lock off the day before I checked it, but couldn't. So I pulled the camera for awhile.
The animals don't seem to mind, you can get viewers that you insert the cards into, and look at them away from your camera location also. Cudde makes a nice one.

never had a problem with leaving my human scent near trail cam.. that would spook the critters.. In fact, I tested that idea, at one spot. Which had bears, yotes, deer visit location daily to weekly.

Pee'd in the middle. Cam's photo range. Left my Hat, that was sweaty. 3 week-'s later.. . Bears, yotes, deer.. did not see a change of pattern. Dam bear still messed with my Camera, but left the Old one 18 inches off the ground..

could be my area too, that has lots of rain/moisture. Unknown...

BigDan,

I certainly understand why you want a field viewer. I use one myself. I'm trying to understand why you would want one that you have to plug into the camera to use. The example you give is perfect. If I'm hunting, the last thing I want to do is spend time on the ground reviewing pictures. If I can't check the camera ahead of time, I'd prefer to simply swap the SD cards and review them in my stand.

Thanks,

Jack

The answer is pretty simple, it only cost $49 bucks, compared to $100 + It only takes what 5 minutes or so to check the pics, and then climb in the stand. I usually check mine when I'm cooling down before I change clothes around. It's usually dark anyway. It can be used in Moultrie and Scoutguards. Not sure what other camera have this plugin, I know cuddeback doesn't have the same plugin.

All you do is plug it in and used the remote or the controls on the camera to go threw the pics.
One nice thing about the Moultrie (and the Leaf River) viewers is with having to open the lid to see the screen you keep from scratching the screen all up. I have a older Stealth viewer and it has alot of scratches on it.
