I have to wait until March 5th to see if the hunting permits I put in have won.

For this season, I will try using a Kodak Playsport Camera (waterproof; 1080pHD) attached to a camo Hat Cam. The Epic Camera I used for last turkey season could not hold unto the cold of the early season.

I have to wait until Mar. 5th also. This will be my 6th try at getting a tag for this area. Hopefully I'll draw it this yr. :)

Good luck

Lucky me -just wait a month and buy one tag over the counter...actually would like to get rid of as many of them as possible(just one tag for spring though-Toms only) if anyone wants to come up and get one I'll try to set you up, though last year they disappeared from the property the week before season(1 flock spent that week at a neighbors 1 mile east and then left there too) and showed back up 3 weeks after season end. We have lots though and they had to go somewhere not too far off. I also roam a long ways working at different locations and find a lot of nice toms on or near public lands and there is really no hunting pressure on them over this side of the U.P.

I gotta wait til end of April. I am also testing out a drift HD170 camera to film my hunt. It will be a first for me, so I am anxious.

April 9th for me. Last yr. the tornado's and rain ruined most of the seasons. We have 5 seasons in Il. from March into May.

Good luck! Can't imagine having to draw a turkey tag. Here in Mo we have a youth season 3/31-4/1, firearm 4/16-5/6(2 gobblers), fall 10/1-10/31(2 any sex), plus you get 2 any sex tags included on your archery deer tag 9/15-1/15. Sometimes you have to stop in the road to keep from running over one. The MDC has done a good job with the establishment of turkey's.

Thanks. This is an area that has 3 GMU combined together that only gives out 5 tags per yr.for spring hunt only. It is on the western slope in the high country  .

Only 5 tags ? Is there that few turkeys or are they just trying to build up the flock .

In New Hampshire you just buy a tag for spring hunt(gobblers only) . Another tag for fall hunt any sex and I think they changed it last fall to 2 tags , one hen and one gobbler for fall. I dont turkey hunt . If I wanted to shoot one I could do it off my back deck . They come running over for me to feed them bread.
I got up one morning and there were 2 gobblers sitting on my railing looking in the slider waiting for me to come out and feed them . One of these days I'm going to feed them my baking pan

I don't know why just 5 tags. On my place there are 25 to 150 turkeys at a time and they are there every day. CPW have several GMU's that are spring draw only, fall draw only, Spring Ranching for Wildlife , Fall Ranching for Wildlife drawing, and over the counter spring and fall licences. Most of over the counter licences are for the plains, which I don't hunt. I always hunt on the western slope which is where my place and turkey tag is :D . I hope this answers your question.
