Love this camera, but hit a small snag today: when I opened it for the first time in 4 months, the control panel area was swarming with small ants.

I sprayed permethrin/deltamethrin surface pesticide at the area from a distance so as not to "wet" the surface too much. That seems to have taken care of it for now, but it is concerning that ants are gaining access to the internals of the unit.
I had ants under the latch on my Reconyx XR6. When I opened the cam they went everywhere including inside the cam. i moved the cam to another tree but I had some ants still running around the cam. The next time I checked the cam I had over 400 false pics in two days. The camera was triggering on the ants running across the sensor. I sprayed the cam and no more issues.

If you get ants in your camera and are concerned, take the camera and seal it up in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer for a couple days. This will kill the ants and eggs if present.
