I just got one of these new for less than $100! I can t find diminsions for this camera anywhere. I want to get a security box and can t find anything on what box this camera will fit in. I am hoping someone can help that has been down this road that has this camera. Thanks from a Hoosier!!! Oops I almost forgot to ask if this camera needs the firmware update the M-880 uses?

This is one of the issues with Moultrie right now. They make these special models for certain retailers, and you don't really know if the lock boxes will work or if the firmware updates will work. This is why I make sure there is a lock box that fits before I buy a camera. I usually try to get both in the same transaction, even if it may cost a little more.

I would bet it is identical to the M880, I think that the sensor is just round instead of square?

I tried the 800i in a box I was using a m-80 (2010) in the 800i WOULD NOT GO! It was close and could maybe be tweaked, but it would have scraped the front of the 800i to shut it. I think it was the python loops that is the difference. And maybe a slight difference in the bottom of the box. There are tabs there to hold the camera from moving. the battery drawer is different than the old M-80. Maybe a newer box for the mini-cams would work. I just don't know. I would not try the update for the m-880 in it. Not a bad daylight camera. I didn't care for the night pictures. Bones

Ok this is what I was told from Moultrie customer service today. Moultrie is coming out with a new and improved mini security lockbox any day now because of some issue with it (old box)covering some of the sensor , she could not tell me when or where I can get one however she stated that the 800i camera will fit same box as a M-880 . I also asked about the firmware and she confirmed NOT to install on this camera. I got some of my questions answered . I also emailed camlock box and have not received a response yet on if their box will fit or not . I will be able to check it myself once I pull my 990I out of the camlock box it's in but that will be awhile before I can do that . I guess I didn t realize it would be this difficult to figure out the security box ! Lol

I have finally got a security box & with some adjustments to the camera with a belt sander got it to fit.I bought a new style moultrie box off ebay and this camera would still not fit  ! I took the belt sander to the lip over the photo eye and sanded it down about 1/8" and had to take a little off the tabs that open camera ,but it now fits the box. I can say this was a lesson learned on buying the box and cameras at the same time. I could have used the python cable thru the holes in camera , but it looked like it would be easy to break the tab off. I have 2 of the 5 cameras out and plan on pulling them and setting out the other 3 in a couple of weeks . What an inconvenience thieves are!!!! :(

Unless Moultrie has drastically improved their lock boxes. I wouldn't use it, they are junk and are very easy to get into. I know I have one. Do yourself a favor and get either a camlockbox or custom1enterprises security box. Way better design, construction and all around better product.

I have not been at all impressed with the knowledge of Moultrie's CS reps recently. In the past month I have been told (by 3 different reps) that:
1) There is no difference between the M-990i and the various store brand versions (actually they are different both physically and in operation)
2) Switching from a class 4 SD card to a class 10 would "definitely" fix my out of focus images (I knew that wouldn't have any effect on image quality, but he insisted, so I tried it and of course it did not change anything)
3) There is no difference in image size between "regular" multiple images and "fast" burst when the image size is set to 10 mp (there is)
4) The camera takes true optical 10 mp photos when set to 10 mp (it does not, they are interpolated from a smaller image size)
I don't think they are trying to lie (the individual reps); I think they just don't know any better...

I pretty much run all moultrie cameras except one primos and in the short time I have been a member here from what i have read I am leaning toward the covert cameras for my purchase.

They both have their strong and weak points. I like the black 60 and the 990i,nothjing wrong with either of those.

These are considered used. Good price, that is, if the unit actually works. The only retailer selling this camera as a new product is Dicks Sporting Goods.
