550V Flashing Blue Light

OK ... well my SG550(v) "lack of luck" seems to keep continuing.

Brand new 550V camera as of mid July. Up until last week it has performed flawlessly. I put it on a hot trail last Tuesday and left it as I had been. Remote programmed the camera fine when I left it and the card that I had just pulled had over 100 photos on it. Fast forward to today. I ran out to my farm to hang one last tree stand and figured I'd swap cards in all my cameras. I go to the 550V in question, shut it off, plug in the remote, flip the switch on ... and nothing ... the remote does not turn on. What the (bleep)?!?! I'm thinking. So I unplug it and try it again. Same thing. Then I notice the led that normally flashes red for 10 seconds when you first arm the camera, is sitting there flashing blue while the remote is plugged in (again, the remote won't come on). I've never seen this before. So at the time, I figured my remote might be dead, so I swap cards, turn the camera on, it flashes red for 10 seconds, and I walk away. I then went to another 550V, plug in the remote, and all is working fine. So puzzled, I came home, put the SD card from the 550V in question into my computer and not a single photo. Again ... up till last Tuesday, this camera had been flawless.

So tomorrow, I'm going to go yank the camera out of the woods and bring it home for some bench testing. In the mean time, I'm racking my brain, as I've never seen this blue flashing light and no response on the remote before. :evil:

Anyone have any clue as to what is going on with this unit? :?:

I think the blue light special means your battery level is down low and you need to change them.

Batteries need to be checked. Some cams show blue light when batteries need to be replaced

That could be. I'm going to go pull the camera at lunch today. What seems odd though is that last Tuesday, when I re-set the camera, I distinctly remember not being concerned about the batteries per what the remote told me. Using the remote, I re-formated the card (I always do this when I swap cards), checked my settings, and turned it on as normal. In doing so, if there was decent juice in the batteries, the camera should have recorded images until the batteries died, as my SG's have done in the past when batteries died in the field. But when I checked the camera yesterday, there was not a single image on the card. Also, when I turned the camera on after swapping cards yesterday, the red light flashed for the 10 seconds during start up just like normal.

I'm hoping it is a battery issue, but something just doesn't feel right about it.

I'll be testing it out on the bench tonight, that is for sure.

OK ... so I feel like an idiot ... LOL. :oops:

Batteries seem to have been dead. :oops:

None of my original 550's have acted like this when the batteries die, must be something with the newer 550V models I guess.

Thanks for the tips you guys. I was ready to throw the camera. Changed batteries and she's takin' pictures now.

Hope that's all it is. Please post back next time you check your cam. Hope its not eating batteries!

Just checked the camera today and it has worked perfectly for the past week.

Set it up over a new scrape. 228 photos and only 8 did not have deer on them. Knock on wood, but for the time being I have zero trail cam issues. :shock:
