Just curious as to how most of you guys feel about delay options on cameras. Some cams come with just a few delay optoins and some let you chose from 1-60 sec and 1-60 min. I feel very strongly about having all of the control of my delays and hate cams with preset delays. I like full control and rarely buy cams with preset delays anymore.

I want to hear what yall think on this subject.

As long as the delays are sufficiently short, say 5 secs, I don't mind preset delays. Being able to set different delays for night and day is very important to me also.

I feel I understand which locations require a faster delay than others, so I like to have full control on that option.
I would give up the moon phase stamp easily as I see no practical use for this on amatuer vouyeristic trail watching.

What kind of cams do that? That would be cool.

I would like to see 1-60 second and then 1.15 ,1.30,1,45,2 minute and so on. Right now most cams go from 1,2,3,4,5 minute and do we really need a 30 minute delay who use that with a digital trail camera?

I hear ya. I never use a delay over 5 minutes anymore. I normally only use 1-5 minutes on feeders depending on how active it is. 2 min delays on feeders and 15 sec with 2 shot burst on trails seem to be my favorite. I like your quarter of a minute idea too

This is a very old topic that I would like to bring back.

I still don't understand why some companies still have preset delays. I have no interest in cams made by Primos, Moultrie, Hunten, WGI, Spypoint and the new Browning because of the preset delays. Heck even my Uway VH200B has preset delays which disappointed me after I got it, I would have never bought it had I known that it had pre sets. Reconyx even uses pre sets on the HC500 and HC600 cams.

Am I the only guy out there that is very turned off by Pre Set Delays on trail cams?

I'd like to choose me exact delay but as long as the presets are in 5 second intervals it doesn't bother me.

If I had the choice, all other things being equal, I'd prefer to choose my own delay. That being said, I wouldn't totally disregard a camera that had preset delays if I liked all the other functions of the camera.

I also agree that I can't see any reason to have a delay beyond 5 minutes, even at a feeder.

You're not the only one. Everyone should offer 0-60, 1-10. And do away with the night vid duration limitations. Put the control in the user's hands. Manufacturers are cutting themselves short from releasing cams with restrictions. Why target some when you reach most? Doesn't make any sense.

I prefer to set them where I want them. Different setups warrant different delays.
