Tomorrow I'm pulling the trigger and getting an HC500. I've not had much time to do a hard search but found one at bowhuntingoutlet.com for $414.

http://www.bowhuntingoutlet.com/hc500-h ... rt-ir.html

Am I getting something out of date here ? Maybe an older camera that doesnt have some of the features ? Just wondering why $414.

Can I beat that price ? Anyone ?

Thanks guys

Dennis

If its a Reconyx, you cant go wrong warranty wise. Ask for the serial number first, call up Reconyx and they can tell you what month and year the camera was manufactured. They base all repairs on the age of the unit, no reciept required. I have yet to have them charge me for a single repair even on a camera out of warranty. The only issue you "may" have is that the lens may need refocused. The first ones shipped had a bad epoxy securing the lens and they had to be re-glued with a better product. As for it being old, I dare say the hyperfire series cameras have only been out since early 2010 I think? So in reality, how old can it really be?

*Reconyx will not care where you bought the camera from*
They approach it as an issue of pride and belief in thier products.

Seems like a good price to me.

I called Reconynx, they said as long as I had a proof of purchase from them, they would honor the 1 yr warranty.

I even read the **NOTE** at the bottom of bowhuntingoutlet.com's add for the $414 HC500 and Reconyx CS said its because they buy directly from them. Here's the note that scared me a little but now no fear:

Please Note :All Reconyx products are completely NON-returnable and NON- exchangeable to bowhuntingoutlet.com, any problems with the items must be dealt with directly and exclusively through the manufacturer. Phone 1866-493-6064

Here's the good news. Reconyx actually has folks on the same continent as you that actually REPAIR your camera.

I mean this as no slight to any of the dealers on this site, but the dealer is probably a little less important a decision with Reconxy than many other cameras.

Well, "repair" is the very reason I'm buying the Reconyx. Hoping wont be doing any repairing. 8)

Oh, absolutely!

One thing is for sure, if you buy a camera from "overseas" there won't be any "repairing" done either!

I wouldn't be to concerned about that note if Reconyx said they will take care of you. My guess is they cut their profit margin so close they don't want to be out any shipping expense taking care of a warranty for you when Reconyx will take care of you.

I have never not once had to provide proof of purchase on any Reconyx camera sent in for repair.
My RC60HO was over warranty and developed a moisture leak somehow. They replaced practically everything in that camera including the case. I had bought it refurbished to begin with. The cost was ZERO dollars. I returned my 1st HC600 cause of a bear attack. They repaired it and the cost was ZERO dollars. I just sent another HC600 in for repair that I bought off another member here. It's power source fried unexplainedly. They repaired it and are shipping it back right now. The cost was ZERO dollars.

Again, no proof of purchase required and in 2 of these cases they emailed me the shipping labels to send it in at a cost of ZERO dollars.

And hey, I have 2 new Reconyx hats given to me for my inconvenience (probably a 3rd one on it's way with UPS). Do you see a trend in any of this? :P

Yeah, you own 3 reconyx cams and everyone was sent back for repair. :) Just kidding, that is great customer service.
