Good evening gents - thanks for the warm welcome. First, let me share the reason why I moved up the HC600. I had never had any reason to suspect that any of my cameras (IR or Flash) where spooking deer in the field. I had taken several shots of this bruiser all fall in 2010. Then on 11/30, I got the following sequence that suggested that perhaps the HC500 IR illuminators might be spooking mature bucks on our property in west central Illinois....
Clearly looking at the HC500. Note that this is the last of 5 shots snapped - range estimated at 20 ft....
The HC500 re-arms and takes another 5 pictures. The buck doesn't like what he sees...
And he is outta there... Is the camera or something else? You decide.
Unfortunately, I never got another picture of this buck after this sequence. I worry that he left the property. Hopefully we'll see him again in 2011.
So thats why I bought a pair of HC600's for this season. I have only had two weeks in the field with the HC600s - here are some shots from the HC600 in various light conditions and ranges. So far, I would say that the quality is comparable to the HC500.
Dusk... range < 10 feet:
A doe caught in the act... she thought the darkness would give her a little privacy - NOT! Range ~ 30 feet.
Pretty good clarity on this moon lit night. Range ~ 20 feet. Not a bad buck. We'll be watching this one in future years...
With only 2 weeks of images so far, I am very satisfied with the HC600 when compared to my HC500s. I just got the 2011 Bushnell No Glo HD Trophy Cams. Testing on the tame deer in my backyard (rual northwest suburbs of Chicago), they have been impressive. Good clarity and long range detection and illumination. I placed three in our hunting fields on Sunday. I'll be pulling the pics in about 2-3 weeks. Stay tuned for an update on the BTCs as well as an update on the HC600s.
