Do black flash cameras increase the number of pictures taken?
Yes. I get way more pictures of deer and repeat visits from larger bucks. 80%  80%  [ 24 ]
I get only slightly more pictures with black flash so the extra expense is not worth it. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
I see no increase in the number of pictures taken. 13%  13%  [ 4 ]
I dont care for black flash. The reduction in picture quality is not worth the trade off. 7%  7%  [ 2 ]

I thought an updated poll would be a good idea. Black flash has been out long enough now to get an idea of how it's performance holds up agianst traditional IR cameras. I would prefer that only those of us who have actually used both post thier opinions. It may help others get an idea of what they can expect.

I left white flash cameras out on purpose as it has a niche all to itself. (I believe)

It is my observation that my black flash pictures and video's are undetected.
I see potential on black flash for wildlife and night security!

The only issue to the deer is "a man made object" suddenly appeared on a tree or they keep an eye on the black flash camera waiting to see a red glow that never comes.

We used Red Glow cameras since 2006 and know the deer react to it. Our local deer born after 2006 may not fear red flash as a deer in the wilderness would since we had cameras out there 365 days of the year for four years. As a fawn our local deer see the red flash was a common occurance that never hurt them.

Red Glow Video's really seem to upset deer due to the constant red flashing for the duration of the video. If the camera is set for a 30 second video the red diodes flash on and off for 30 seconds. Most of our deer back off when they see this.

I just received my "second" Black Flash camera and will be testing it this week end. :D
It is my long range plans to replace all my red flash cameras with black flash.

I would bet that next year you will see most of the game camera manufactures introducing their version of Black Flash.
Black flash will slowly eliminate the red glow type.

i recently started running a few buckeye cam black flash. vs. ir "red blob" cameras, the deer do not react at all to it. while there are downsides to black flash like distance and more graininess, i believe it is inevitable that most cameras will soon be black flash.

HOC I dont believe thats true . In any testing on any camera I have thats red IR's the IR's do not blink 30 times on a 30 second video . The red IR's just stay on like any lightbulb . You hit the switch , bulb goes on for 30 seconds , switch off the bulb goes out . There is no flickering for 30 seconds with those brands . Maybe its that way on a brand of cam you have ? If that is the case with a your cams , then I can see why the deer would back off. But my bushnells and Uways dont do that .All I do is 30-40 sec videos for the most part .
In 3 years I have had one mature doe run away from the cam at nite only to stalk the cam for the next 5 min to end up eating in front of the cam in the end . I find bucks are the ones that could care less about the red IR lites . Its the mature does that have the highest amount of curiosity in the cam . I posted a topic about a big 8 point that I believe saw the low glow IR's in my 467 and kept back peddling for 10 minutes while staring at the cam . That same buck I have on video last year with his face 4 feet from the red IR's and he paid no attention to them . I used my cams last year in during hunting season in Maine in the middle of nowhere that I know none of those deer ever saw a cam or IR's before . During that week I got 5 deer on the cam at nite . One was a nice 7 point that walked past at 15 feet quartering to the cam , paid no attention to it, another was an absolute monster 10 point that was in front of the cam for 6 vids and never even blinked at the cam , like the cam didn't exist , and the other 3 were does of which 2 out of the 3 stared at the cam suspicious at first then just kept browsing .
Dont get me wrong . I do believe that black flash technology will be the future of most cams . I will add black flash low glow cams to my weaponry as they as it evolves with better flash range . But im surely not going to park my red IR cams for black flash only when I have never had a clear case of camera avoidance from it . Every mature buck I caught on nite video with the red IRs has always come back multiple times in front of the same cam or got caught on one of my other cams as he made the rounds through the woods. Sure other people have had individual cases of some hight strung buck or doe with red IR's but they are the exception and not the rule so far in my experience .
What i dont believe in (yet) is the necessity for 1080 HD . The 720 HD works just fine and is already perfect in the 466 Bushnell and the NX80 UWAY. No need for more complications . Seems like the higher the HD the worse the nite vids . You give up to much to get very little in return on day vids with 1080.

Hi, The flashing red IR was based on my observations in 2009-2010 based on my Cuddeback No Flash in video mode. At that time there were no low glow units on the market.
I have a Cudde video of a nice buck that just freaked out on the flashing red light and took off for parts unknown
I agree with you in 2011, not all red flashes are programmed the same.
I also think that the deer will put up with the red flash if they want the attractant like corn laid out in front of them enough. I also see nice Bucks stumble into a red flash area, never to return.
Once people start shooting at them I think deer have a lower tollerance for red flash too.
Late in the hunting season it is nice to have a covert camera.

Since I started using the Uway NT50B deer have bedding down in front of the camera, not knowing it was there.
Saturday I moved a Uway 10 ft to another tree looking at the same lick I used all summer. The deer knew where the camera used to be since it had been there so long. It was fun to see the deer not react to the new camera location. Since they came in at night they had no previous knowlege the camera had moved. I will make some video's for you.
So what will spook deer less?
A camera they can see or a camera they cannot see?
At this point in time, I will stick with the Uway NT50B. (invisible flash) as the best choice for me.

Yup they sure aren't very tolerant of that yellow flash coming out of the end of a gun barrel  . Good thing they cant shoot back or we would be running from any flash too
Oh , its a cudde that was the flashing blinker. Well what did you expect from one of those things ? Perfection ?
HOC the funny thing is even during hunting season I have caught bucks making the rounds in front of the cams both day and nite on vids .The younger bucks that cant keep it in their fur are the ones I catch during the day on cams  . The bigger bucks were more at nite cruising for does on the cams set up on deer trails or pre dawn on escape routes making their bee line to their 10 square foot hideout in the swamps to spend the day . Once the first shots are fired those big boys know better than be roaming in daylight during hunting season . Its near the end of the hunting season up here that you have a better chance at the big boys . The week after Thankgiving even the big boys might make a mistake and come home late or leave early for that hot date he met the nite before
