My 550 had the black lens cover drop into the camera. I have no idea how it happened. The camera appears to be functional. Can someone give me the contact info for Scoutguard to mail the camera back to them? I am not looking for a freebie since the camera is around 3-4 years old, I just want the camera fixed. thanks for any help guys.

Sounds like the screw came out on one side. Is this an SG550? I took my camera apart cause it wasnt working and way past the warranty. I took out all the screws and moved everything. When I put it together it worked fine. Except the pics were all fuzzy. I took it back apart and found that I hadnt put that black thing in right. I rescrewed it and it now works as good as new.

If its under warranty and you used a vendor call them. If not, look for a number at HCO's website.

Here is thier contact web page;

There are 2 very VERY small screws that hold that little plastic thing in (one on each side). Be careful opening it up cause odds are one is laying in the camera rattling around. You may have to shake it a little to hear it and get it to fall out. Make sure that the holes are lined up properly and screw them back in. You need a very small phillips screw driver to do this. It appears youve already opened it up if you know the problem, so any warranty is voided anyway.

It's pretty easy to repair yourself...really it is.
It will save you shipping fees and turnaround time. I did mine in less than 5 minutes. And I am not mechanically or electronically inclined in the least!

Got up with Charlene at Scoutguard. She was very nice on the phone. She is going to mail me a return # within the hour. Since it is out of warranty, max cost for a repair is 80.00, but since it is just the motion detector cover (I posted lens cover by mistake), she said it would be less than 80.00 (I should hope so <grin>). The exact amount will be given to me after they receive the camera.

Thanks all.

Thanks. I am not sure if I am missing anything, and I would rather have them seal it especially if it fails again.

Good service from Scoutguard. They received my camera a week ago today, and I got a call from them yesterday. $35.00 to fix the PIR sensor, and it should get mailed out today, a week after they received it.
