shane1041,

I noticed three of the four camera choices in your poll are using the S600 camera. Depending on where you plan on putting your cam, you might not be pleased with the S600. If you would be placing the cam primarily over a feeder or salt/mineral lick, then the S600 will work great, especially with its very powerful flash. But if you plan on using the camera in trail situations, the S600 is way too slow (trigger speed). In night-time situations, the 4 second trigger time will leave you with mostly blank pictures. For trail situations, the S40 is a much better choice, and even then, getting one with a wide-angle fresnel lens would be even more of a help.

Yes, price should be way down on the list of "deciding factors" in trail cam shopping.

This cam will be used at my feeder location , speed shouldnt be a real big issue , At this location I am really leaning toward the S600 due to the flash that is has . There is nothing worse in my opinion than a camera with a bad flash . Thanks for all of the input you guys have given me .

shane1041,

You will be pleased with the flash on the S600. It is noticeably more powerful than the other cams. But I would also suggest NOT "pushing" the ISO into the slower shutter speeds to get more distance at night. I found that even with the ISO pushed only to 400, the night pictures were amazingly grainy for a 6 MP image. Allowing the camera to set its own shutter speed (setting the ISO on "automatic") produced better pictures, although there will be some loss of distance.

Shane,
Just a general observation on my part but a lot of people seem to think they just want a cam that will work good over a feeder but end up wishing they'd have gone with a faster cam so they could have more versatility in their setup positions. This may not describe you though, I don't know. I just hate seeing pics of tails or nothing at all and this can sometimes even happen around a feeder location. If I were to go with a slightly slower cam, I'd almost certainly go with a wide angle fresnel at minimum.

shane1041,

The S600 uses the Memory Stick Pro Duo (the half-sized stick). It usually comes with an adapter for reading in a standard Memory Stick slot.

** I did not see where this one cam with the adaptor**
