For what its worth several years ago I was working with some high end electronics (30K camera) which operated by battery. I know sounds crazy but the application requires it. The company that developed the camera recommended Copper Tops based on extensive testing at their labs. These folks buy pallets of batteries on a regular basis so I kinda figured they knew their stuff. Last year I did roughly 3 weeks out west taking thousands of photos with your standard Harry Home Owner Camera. I started out with Energizers and within a few days switched over to the suggest Copper Tops. My experience confirmed the info the high tech folks offered. The Duracells didn't go twice a far as the Energizers but at least 50% further no question...

Another lesson learned several years ago and clearly stood out was the Bass Pro batteries. Not sure I have ever come across batteries that poor, right off the shelf consistently weak and leak in little to no time...

I found AA Coppertops at Publix supermarkets this weekend. A 10pk after a 30% off discount cost me a little more than $5.30!!!! I grabbed up 4 packs so I could stuff that Ltl Pain in the Arse Acorn with them.
I still have a 6v SLA attached anyway.

friends don't let friends get hooked on crack AAs. :D

BTW, I am still getting a "B3" on my ltl-acorn with only the 6V SLA. Has anyone actually seen the "B3" change to something else?

I have a 6 volt external hooked up to my Little Acorn MMS. It always shows B3. The external holds a good charge for a long long time.

NEVER EVER RECEIVED A MSG STATING LOW BATTERY. I always have the 6v attached to it anyway. A moisture issue has now popped up with this damn Acorn now. Always, always a damn issue with this thing I swear!

I threw a small pack of silica desiccate inside the door. I think the moisture is entering through the 6v plug. I think this is a good idea for all the cameras, especially with the daily temperature changes I get.

John,
You talking about the bottom trap door location?
It would have to be pretty small if so.

Thanks in advance.

I went to the Consumer Report website to take another look at this chart and read into their testing. According to Dec. 2011, the ultimate 8x lithium is the champ. ???? Makes more sense but doesn't match Anthony's chart which I do remember seeing and being surprised.

Just how much better did the 8X last compared to the 4X?

1286 vs. 957. That's not 2 to 1 like the advertising says, more like 4 to 3.
As for posting a link to that page, you have to subscribe to them. Go figure, I pay to get their misinformation.

I use a lot of duracell copper tops with excellent ressults. Also use Duracell SD cards cause I can get them cheaper than others.

^ I also use duracell sd cards. They work for me and have done goofy things at times, but friend just had a dead one out of the package.
I get some sandisk 2gb ones on ebay for $5.30 shipped.

Batteries- Been using rayovac per recommendations on this site. Working good for me.

Lithium 8x have worked the best in my Reconyx when I had those cameras. I am now testing Duracell Ultra and Lithium Ultimates in my 4 new Moultrie M80XDs. Rayovacs were short lived in the WI frigid temperatures but did work well with temperatures down to about +35. Below +35 it seemed like Rayovac battery life was cut 75% (less).

Put out a Bushnell on field scan to watch for the mud pie/smiley face bandits. Loaded with fresh Walgreens AA. took 4,680 pics before going dead. I was impressed since they were on sale and much cheaper than Energizer's.
