My dilemma now is whether to return the camera to Wal Mart for a refund, or call Primos and see if I can mail it back to them to be either fixed or exchanged for a new one.

I would return it and move on.

Why do you say that? It seems to have plenty of range, when it actually works. Oh and by the way, I had it set at 25 instead of the full 46.

Those last two night pictures you posted were really dark.

Try Walmart. If they don't have any in stock they should be able to have one shipped to the store, just like when you order off their website and have it shipped to your local store.
The 2 pics I got with the full 46 led's lit the plot up like my m80.

Call Primos Customer service, explain to them that it is a new out of the box camera and has never worked properly, they have waived the shipping return fee (20.00) for me before, so i was only out the cost to ship to them (about 7 bucks USPS) . Looks to me like the IR filter is stuck, so you are not getting any true "daytime" pictures. The noon pictures should be color, unless you are set up in a cave. I have multiple TC35's, a TC46, and a TC60. Have had several fail, mainly electronic glitches, but Primos has always stood behind them and replaced them quickly.

I didn't make it to Wal Mart today. Planned to, but went to Cabelas first, and ended up buying another Primos 46. Got it for $100.49 with a $20 off coupon for spending $150 or more. Also picked up some clothing that they had dirt cheap sale prices to get up the the $150. So that's a fair price and if this one is bad it will be easy to return it to Cabelas (the store is only a 10 minute drive from where I work).

I will try Wal Mart tomorrow and try to return it for a refund. I think I'll be good with just one Primos for now, if I like it, I may get a couple more later. If Wal Mart doesn't want to take it back then I will get a hold of Primos CS and see about exchanging it for a new one.

That makes sense about the IR filter being stuck. I bet you're right about that. It's good to have an idea what is causing the issue.

I am glad to know from you guys on here that Primos takes care of their customers. That is one of the main reasons I decided to try Primos. I can't wait to get the new one out it in the woods. I should have time to do it out on Friday. I'm curious to see if I'll get any color pictures.

Whether the filter is stuck or not they should not be that dark during daytime and if the filter was stuck open then if anything they should be a little brighter than normal.

So now your back to either a camera that is malfunctioning or your time is set incorrectly...lol

Oh ok, well the camera is screwed up! The times are correct. I don't know what's wrong with the camera but it doesn't work right. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the new one.

And the Tasco just keeps on a ticking!!

I hope my new Moultrie M80 and two D55 cameras hold up ok. It's a real job getting into the area I am going to deploy them in. I tested the two Tasco 3 and the M80 at home for a couple of weeks to be sure they were ok. So far they are working great for me.

Good Luck with the new Primos 46!!

Bill

Well, the new 46 is now out in the woods looking at a pile of apples. Tried a different spot this time. I'm trying to figure out where the bigger bucks have disappeared to. I think they're probably just not moving much, like they were a month or two ago. The two spots I've had cameras only have the two little spikes coming in. So I now have the Primos 46 further up on the hill to see if possibly one of the big bucks might be hanging up there.

I did test it out at home first, and it actually takes color pictures!

I'll probably only let it soak for three days before I check it, since Monday is a holiday that will give me a chance to see how well it's working, and I'll be curious to see if any deer will have found the apples by then.

One question: does anyone know if I can have internal batteries and an external battery hooked up to the camera at the same time? I couldn't find anything about that in the manual. I just don't know if it would hurt anything.

The sticker on the steroid pack says to not have the internals in when using the external. I figured out why, the external power does not override the internal batteries like most other cams do. The batteries would have to go dead before the external would start working. I assume they would then take over, but not sure. Good luck with your new 46. We took all of our primos cams back and got moultries.

Thanks. I've got it out there with internals now. I will switch those out with the external battery on Monday. I just didn't want to pack the external with me today as I was searching out a new spot for the camera and carrying about 40 pounds of apples as well.

Like I said, it at least is taking color pictures now. The other one didn't. And so far it appears that the temperature is close to being correct. But if I find any reason I don't like it, I will be returning it to Cabelas for a refund. Sure glad to have a Cabelas store only 20 miles away.
