my 466 has a problem and will have to be returned under warranty. it started out as a great cam day and night but than something went wrong the nightime pictures are not usable, it will not do video. when it worked my only complaint was the nightime flash range which did what it claimed to do. i saw some nightime pictures on here from the 446. to me they are what i like to see in nightime pictures. if anyone has the 466 i would like to hear how your cam is working. i would really like to have some info on the flash[duration and intensity] truly hazelvillebucks

last week i put in 12 new ultimate lithiums reading 1.80 to 1.81 bad job on pictures.any movment blur;'[= before when i checked them they read 1.69 so i tried it on video,i did not check the cam for number of videos when i pulled the card but when i checked the card it was empty. i went back to the cam with the voltmeter and i believe the volts were all in the 1.58 range it was cold at the time. i just checked one of those batteries which reads 1.685. it is doing this with a san disk 4 g.b. and a sony 8 g.b card which have never been used in anything but this cam. they were formated on my computer and on the cam when cards were changed. the cam was performing well last year but so far in 2012 it leaves something to be desired. i got the cam the middle of oct. and this is the 3rd set of lithiums i have used. one set i changed because i left the cam in setup which the bushnells do not like. the batteries are all showing pretty much the same readings so it is not running off of just part of them. i will keep on using this cam as long as there is bone to be seen, probably mid march, but then it will have to go in on warranty.the 446 looks like it may fit my needs better as long as it is not a long duration brakelight flash cam. per my previos post i am trying to find out about the 446 but info on what is wrong with the 466 is appreciated as well. truly hazelvillebucks

thanks for the input, here is the deal on lithiums, I use energizer ultimate lithiums, and out of the package they read around 1.8. new alkalines out of the package will usually be 1.5 to 1.6.

that being said, my lithiums always conk out around 1.65. yep, that's right, at 1.65 I get no video, flash is always low, but guess what, any camera I have ever used, lithiums are that way.

but from new at 1.8 to "dead" at 1.65 my 466 has cranked out over 40,000 single images on timelapse, and close to 8,000 25 second videos.

also I should mention when the lithiums were "dead" at 1.65, they still showed "full" on the bushnell battery meter.

I really don't think there is anything wrong with your camera. I think it's your batteries.

Sure sounded like a battery issue when I read your first post. And you sure aren't getting the battery life out of it you should. I'd say wait as long as you can, then send it to CS. Who knows, they might have the 2012 models available then!

they may have been to low for video but after that i put in new 1.81 volt ultimates. it looks to me like the shutter speed at night has somehow changed. the pictures are very bad. they look like someone took my 466 and put a m-80 in it, i may try it on video again if the pic. do not clear up. when i send it back i am considering trying a red flash if the flash is tame. truly hazelvillebucks

This sounds kinda simple and dumb, but I left my 466 out for 3 weeks around christmas this year on a set of brand new batteries. When i checked it, I had "0" videos. I checked everything. Swapped batteries, tired pictures, nothing worked.

After about 30 mins of switching cards, batteries, everything, I found out that every time i put a card in, it would bump that switch on the card to "lock" and nothing would get written to it. It was my fault, i would hit that switch on the bottom of the camera every time. I have to be careful now when i put a card in.

Maybe reinstalling the firmware will straighten it out? You could try it, if it worked you'd save shipping costs. Electronics can be strange at times.

that could work. i guess i need to call bushnell and talk to them,or do they have a link where i can get it. one thing that i have seen from bushnell is that they have the properties of their cams blocked, i tried to check properties from pictures before and after the problem to see if shutter duration was different but i quess bushnell does not want us knowing their secrets. it would not be smart to be running a sick cam if a filmware fix is readily available. their customer service has always been good, i will get on it. thanks stovepipe 699 hazelvillebucks

update ; i got in touch with bushnell technical support today, they thought that rerunning the filmware could cause more problems than it would solve,i guess kind of like the problems some had with the m-80 update. there is no filmware update for the 466 on their site at this time. i expressed my thoughts that the shutter time had somehow changed and that i wanted it to be working for the next 6 weeks. he thought that i try changing the picture resolution to a lower setting than 8 m.p. he thought that the different resolutions may change the shutter duration. so when i get back to the cam i will try that and hopefully get some useful information while there is still bone to see. hazelvillebucks
