i went and checked a cam today and found 5 sheds while doing so. one of them belong to a up and comer 11 point that to me looks like he has plenty of potential.i found the right antler off of him. i have 15 photo,s of him recently off of three cams spread out over 3/4 of a mile. i have put the tape to this shed already so i know what it scores. how close can you come scoring this buck, give me what you come up with for the right antler ,the left antler .gross score, and net. i will post part of the pictures and can post more if needed. at this time i only have the right shed and will not be looking hard for the other till march.

I'll say 56 on the right and 57 on the left with a 12 inch inside spread giving him a score of 125 gross. I don't agree with net scores..............if he grew it, it counts in my book. I think that the inside spread credit is is such a stupid thing too, bonne and crockett is measuring air. Sorry for the short rant, but really the inside spread is a useless and has nothing to do with what a deer grew.

I dont believe in deductions. The safari club scoring system dont use em.
Nor does the slay system.

what i have is the right antler the points are 5 3/8, 8 0/8, 8 3/8, 3 1/8=247/8 circum; 4 6/8, 4 2/8, 4o/8,3 5/8=16 5/8 main beam length 21 2/8 one extra point 1 1/18= total gross 64 0/8 the left antler looks like it is pretty close to this so depending on the inside spread this 2 1/2 year old should gross close to 140 inches, but more important is that he is carrying the genes to become much more. it will be interesting to see what he can put on next year and he will be a test of willpower,of self control for anyone other than the next generation youth hunter to take him. truly hazelvillebucks

Well, it doesnt appear hat I all that far off in my estimates considering I am new at this and the pic I chose was blurry. I also did not see the kicker point. That would be pretty much in line with DoubleDropTine's unaided estimate for total score.
Good call by both of us I should think.

i have not had time to play with buckscore much, does it have the ability to use several different pictures and come up with a score based on different angles. the sticker point is curved. i took a walk up rainbuck ditch this morning and found a matched set typical 12 point sheds that had eluded my cams all year. left antler 75 4/8 right antler 70 1/8 with deductions 140 inch without inside spread. the reason i have no pictures was i was using a cuddieback capture that could not figure out whether it was day or night. it has been pronouned dead,a w.g.i.pulse 10x which only takes pictures when it wants to. i put my 2009 bushnell on a scrape where i should of caught this deer and it had the card slot go bad, i lost over 500 prime time scrape pictures. when i got the bushnell 466 in mid oct . i put it on a scrape at the bottom of this ditch and i probably had this buck on it,problem with the 466 is that past 40 foot it is black. the cam i am interested in this year is the bushnell low priced model, i hope it has a micro duration flash. wish i had more littles. truly hazelvillebucks

I would of never guessed that buck had almost 5 inch bases.

Sticker points don't count if you score it typical. When scoring gross Boone or Pope, the total gross score is number of typical points and you just don't add or subtract any. If we were scoring it net, then we would have to deduct for the sticker becasue that would count against it. The deer does not have enough nontypical points to score it nontypical.

You are right though, we ought to be pretty close on estimated guess. I haven't used my Buckscore yet on this deer to see what it will go, but when I have used it in the past, it has always been with in 4 or 5 points.

I don't believe it has 5 inch bases. The 3rd picture is the only one with a clear picture of them. I have never used any of these measuring programs using pictures. But have measured a lot of racks by hand with the cloth tapes. I believe the motion blurr makes this deer appear to have more mass then it does. My first instinct looking at it was mid 120's gross. I will stick with that. Not to bag on the camera. But if you are going to score off of pictures. You need several very clear pictures from several angles.

4 6/8 is the highest mass measurement it tapers down to 3 7/8. his next set of antlers will have bases over 5 inch. if this deer has a weakness it would be tine lengh. while all the tines are respectable i hope to see a increase in tine lenght next year. i know the beams will be longer and he will have more mass i just do not know how much point lenght will increase.. hazelvillebucks
