Just thinking about my driveway alert system. I could be put in the woods and it would let me know when anything comes by when I am in my stand. I have some good deer trails behind me but it is thick. This would give me a heads up that something is comming.

Just thinking out loud

Something more expensive, but I think more versatile, might be the MURS Alertâ„¢ Transmitter and one of their M538-HT handheld transceivers. Dakota Alert even calls it "a revolutionary new trail monitoring system."

You could have up to four of the MATs on one channel, each with a different alert code, so you'd know from which direction something or someone was approaching. The range on them isn't real big, but on a mobile receiver with an external antenna, I've been able to hear one of my MATs transmitting from over a mile-and-a-half away.

I don't remember getting an "ear bud" with either of my handheld transceivers, but Cabelas mentions it on their site. (They don't carry the radios anymore.) With the ear bud, you could monitor the MAT(s) without the receiver squawking or blaring out a chiming sound when something crossed in front of the PIR. (I've got a slightly different driveway alert, and it only has two volume settings. Even the lower setting is probably louder than you'd want to have up in a tree stand with you. "♫ DING DONG!" And Bucky's headed the other direction.)

Just a thought.

from what I remember both WGI and Spypoint have systems for this application.

This is what you are looking for to detect deer before they get to you.
They claim its works up to 1000 feet from your stand.
up to 4 motion detectors transmitting back to you while you sleep in the tree stand.
I wonder if it has a voice message saying " Hey ! Wake Up ! Theres A Deer Coming ! "

Its only 17.99. I am not sure about the chime warning. I do see a high and low on the reciever. I have one coming in for my driveway so I will check it out.

Don't see why it wouldn't work... I was thinking about this for coyote hunting at a bait site.
