Hi all. I recently bought a couple cameras and set them up in the backyard of my city house to try them out. I captured pics of ferrel cats, possums, and raccoons every day (very active). I took the cameras to my rural cabin and I have catured nothing. I don't get it. I was thinking that maybe the country animals are more sensitive to human scents and avoid the area well after I'm gone (I visit my cabin about every 2 weeks for the weekend). I'm starting to think maybe I should bait. I don't want to use any carcasses though because I have alligators on the property and I don't want to feed them. The area is Pine Island off the coast of Florida. There is a bridge going to the island so any southwest Florida critter could be lurking around. Any ideas? What should I use for bait?

Welcome to the forum.

welcome to the site, you could try koolaid to attract animals to the area of your cam, what the other guys said also works very well. Good luck and post some pics if you get anything on cam

Also try leaving your cams alone for AT LEAST two weeks, preferably a month before you go back in and check them.

You can use rubber boots and gloves as well as use the scentkiller sprays to reduce your impact on the cam set up. Most of the animals will get used to the "new" part of the environment and you'll start to get more pics naturally. Also use Mepee for a starter attractant for fox, coyote, cats, coons, etc...if you have a dog, let him mark a spot in front of your cam as well and freshen everytime you go in with your own(mepee) as urine is a universal marking scent and certain spots will get hit by many different animals...I suggest the dog because he will probably find a spot that has already been marked by something else.

I dont know about florida, but this is the worst time of year to get pictures in Pa.
The deer are scarce due to a lot of hunting pressure. Keep at it, youll figure those critters out.
Welcome to the site by the way!

Welcome!
This is the slow time for pics
Try some of the advise above, it's
hard, but leaving the cam alone for
a while does seem to help.
Post some pics when you get them.

Slay, you are correct about the deer but think positive about the Bobcats, coyotes and Foxes! Finding them and trying different lures is SOOO exciting! Especially since you are not fighting the snow on the ground.

Good luck my friend and keep them pictures coming!
