Well I did it, due to the high cost of Cat Lure, I made some homemade Predator Lure.

Chopped up meat/fat trimmings.
Chopped up liver.
Fish Flavored Cat food.
3 cans of sardines, mushed up.
Chopped up stew meat.
One jar of jelly & peanut butter.
One jar of corn syrup.
One half jar of Grape Flavored Kool Aid

After mixing and mixing, I placed them in 2oz and 4oz canning jars.

I HAD TO put some out immediately and only attracted possums so far.

It doesn't smell bad so it looks like I have to "season" it some!

Any suggestions on how to 'speed up' the seasoning process?

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

It takes time.........you can put one out in the sun and if allowed in a sunny window but it won't be as effective as just giving it time.

The question I have is...is there a basis for this recipe or is it just a little of this and I have that?

I never knew cats liked peanut butter and jelly or Kool Aid or corn syrup.

I've tried Maple Syrup for bears and nothing seemed to like that.

I thinks its a mix for everthing out there  ...I know that PB&J doesn't scare the cats off -or fox or yotes either- I had a set up with this as the curiosty stop lure for deer and had a couple pics of a bobcat and a few of the others...I think they where there chasing the mice that were eating it though...that cat was running back and forth

The peanut butter and & Kool Aid were my contribution, the others came from a tip on one of these forums.

I first batch was made about 2 weeks ago and the second batch was made about 2 days ago. They are both outdoors in the sun. If they get too stinky, I may have to eventually freeze it?

I believe my success with the Panthers and the Bobcats was primarily due to the placement of the Furfinr Electronic Call. They both came in the very first time I put it out. Also I have had good luck with Bobcats, foxes & coyotes using OGorman's & Durbin's...

I will be checking the cams in a couple of days and will post the results...

Is this FUN or what?

Yes... I just couldn't wait for weeks/months to get the stink.

After a week or so, I took the covers off the bottles and left the bottles in the Florida sun for a about 10 days. It is getting a little rank and accumulated some heavy film on the top of the juice!

I then stirred the film into the bottle mix and replaced the covers and returned them to the sun with caps in place. I will continue to use a little at a time and most of it will have plenty of time to stink if it is going to..

Cool, good job on the mix(always good if it works)...the main reason you don't want to much air or heat with them is the flies laying eggs/hatching maggots and also the molds that could develop...they ruin the stuff.

Now that you mention it, maybe it WAS mold that I stirred back into the first batch???

I'm guessing first it would be your oils and greases coming from the various meats n fish...should be o.k. unless it was really blue - blue/green, thick and tacky, almost solid and wouldn't break up. Also bad if the fuzzy white stuff(obviously mold) all over it. It'll be back and visible already if its mold. Basically you want the jar sealed so nothing can get in but not to tight so that when gasses expand they can push past the seal before the container cracks/breaks. I think lots of guys put plastic wrap on with a good rubber band(or under the lid lightly tightened). I've found some pretty good instructions searching 'trapping lure recipes' and variations(such as bobcat, coyote, fox lures/baits)on the internet.
