Did some limited testing with the 437 today and noticed one thing right off. Like the 476 that I owned for 13 days, the 437 when set on video mode will only light 24 bulbs on the "high" setting instead of the available 32---WTF. Hey Bushnell, I got something for ya and hope you're listening! Us guys around here are all grown up now. We don't need big brother to limit our choices just for the sake of battery life or are you afraid your little cam will set the forest ablaze . Come on now---WE WANT IT ALL!
End of rant---sorry.

I agree. Give us a choice to use all IR's--just put a note in the manual stating this will reduce battery life!

I agree. Give us the choice of battery life we want. We all know the more LED's a cam uses the more power it also uses.

you may actually get more light with the less leds on. I have no experience with the cameras but depending on the way the leds are wired or if they are using resistors or a driver to power them it is possible that even with fewer leds lit up they may be brighter then if they are all on.

John, With your camera building experience there is absolutely no doubt that your knowledge in this area is light years ahead of mine and I am just a rookie so I have to try and rely solely on common sense and logic. That being said I ask myself a few questions--- #1-Do I believe that Bushnell built this camera in such a way that 24 bulbs are brighter than 32 and therefore Bushnell did this for the customers benefit or #2-Do I believe Bushnell did this so they could advertise longer battery life? #3-If 24 is brighter then 32 then why only on video mode and not picture mode? And lastly #4-If the 24 are brighter then 32 then why even build the darn thing with 32? Just seems very obvious to me they are simply trying to save battery life---but again, I'm just a rookie.

You are probably right in your assumptions, I was just stating that that less is sometimes more, or maybe more isn't always more, or maybe more is less  It may have to do with preserving the leds themselves. I really don't know. best thing to do is some comparison testing, can you turn some of the leds on and off at different times?

Yes, that is my whole point. In this case more is more. On the front of the bubble package that the cam is wrapped in it states "MULTI FLASH MODE" and on the back it states as follows "Multi-Flash Settings (Low/Med/High) Adjust flash power for different setups to conserve battery power where applicable."
This is not that huge of a deal. I'm just sayin to Bushnell to let the customer decide whether to go for full light output or battery life. It's like a hotrodder buying a car that has 320 horsepower but the manufacture says you can use the 320 HP only at stop lights (picture mode) and when you start moving (video mode) it automatically cuts back to 240 HP. What fun is that?

My two cents. I think this has to do with initial battery power compaired to continuous power. I think with all the lights on you will get a bright video for about 5 seconds and the lights will start to dim when battery power start getting low. The video will get darker and darker. I have seen this happen before with an old cam I had and just set the videos for 5 seconds to fix problem. Another one I had cut the amout of ir lights on and they stayed bright the entire time. Moultrie at one time limited its night video length because of this. My Uway cuts the video time down when the batteries start getting low. Just throwing this out there. :P
