I was told that MAxFlash brand seemed to be the most compatable.

Bow and Carl i've been sitting here playing with the NX80 while posting replies and i noticed something the cam is doing . I had it in setup mode to get the firmware number . While itting here in setup the cam went off . I turned it on again and let it sit there and after maybe 7-8 min it shut off again . im checking it again now and im going to time it . Is it supposed to shut off like that ? if not im wondering if there is something arking inside the cam that it gets crossed signals either from the on/off switch , a glitch in the programming that after a few pics or especially vids , it thinks its back in setup mode, or the powe just arks out .

While I was typing this it shut off after 5 min . Is there some kind of timer in this that shuts it off in setup mode to save batteries ?

Is that with all their cams or just the NX50?

I have Max Flash Class 2 -2GB 60X and mine locks up after the first video in HD.Everything else works fine.I really like the Time Lapse mode.I think I am going to enjoy this feature.Only thing is I can't find how to set it for AM & PM. I can do one or the other but I can't find both.

My NX80 in the setup has a choice between the two not both. ?????? Also HCO sent me a Sandisk 2 gb class 2 cards with my NX80.

I had two NX80 cameras witt a customer, one wouldn't start and the other locked at the menu screen, this was with Sandisk 2 and gb cards. Got the cameras sent back to me and tried a Sandisk that I had sent out with them. Then I tried a Kingston card in both. Both started up and functioned ok! Going to put them out with an extended test. It gets kind of expensive sending them back to HCO from the UK. On the other hand I had 2 NX80's out with a professional film unit in the Brazilian jungle and they performed without any problems.

Well just got off phone with them and they up dating the firmware and testing. She said if the camera is still having problems after that i'll be getting a new one to test out. So far it has cost me 50 usd in shipping I'm pretty sure that I should not have had to pay that!!!!!!! Maybe if they payed it, It would gotten fixed the first time. I have called the on line place and left a message but they dont return phone calls. My hunting season starts in 16 days and my camera is in the shop again. I read the reviews here and thought this to be a great choose. But after looking at this post I'm sorry to say I'm sadly mistaken!!!!!!!!

I know this is an old post, but

Has anyone tried the more expensive class 10 cards? When I bought my Canon s100 which does 1080P video the camera store said it needed class 10 to run correctly. You could say they were just trying to sell more, but they are know for giving good advice and the guy just talked me out of spending $200 more on another camera.

Hi RedLeg welcome to the forum !

I have a NX80 . Same thing as the NX50 except the NX80 has the 720HD option . To be honest I never run my NX80 on 720HD anymore because the VGA mode is so good it looks like HD . Running the cam on HD decreases the runtime for videos dramatically. This card issue on the NX50 and NX80 has been an on going issue on what cards will or will not work in these cams. Myself I use Sandisk 2gb class 2 , PNY2gb class 2 and a 2gb MaxFlash60 which is considered a class 2 . But my best card is a 8gb PNY Professional class 10. I found that class 4 and class 6 cards of any brand do not work in my NX80 . Make sure you have the latest firmware update on your cam . You can find what firmware is installed at the end of the menu. Go to menu and scroll down until you find the selection about the firmware. my cam is out in the woods right now but I believe the latest firmware ends in 7270, 7072 , 7870, something like that . You can always call their customer service and have them guide you through the update .
The NX50 and NX80 are terrific cams when you have the right firware and the right card in them.

Thanks for the update. Following the issues you had before it sounds like everything worked out.

Bluesman said he had both and I asked him what cards he uses. He said the same thing about the 2 GB cards.

Thanks guys.
