I ended up buying a new "Varmint" Rifle this Fall...settled for a CZ-USA Model 527 .204 "Varmint" Rifle with the heavy barrel thats 24 inches long,bolt-action,set up with the Leupold QDM matte black scope in 3X9X40mm.This is one heck of an Accurate Coyote Shooting Machine...can't brag enough on the accuracy and knock-down power of this small but screaming fast bullet....something around 3600 to 4000 feet per second while shooting a 32 grain bullet.I started out with the Hornady 40 grainers and changed over to the 32 grain Winchester Ballistic Tip Bullets....still waiting on getting some Sierra Blitz King 39 grain V-max Bullets that are said to be even more accurate and deadly.

Can't express how much fun and excitment I've had Hunting Coyotes for the past month with my Calling Partner...I have put down a total of 5 Coyotes so far,my best was last sunday evening calling in 2 Female Coyotes using my own mouth call out in an open Pasture,I started calling and a Coyote run up from the thick woods to the open field edge about 125 yards away..I stopped calling and aimed at the Coyote broadside and put her into a spin biting herself where I shot her further back on its body. She dropped right there in a small bloodied area and I quickly started calling again when another Female Coyote ran up and I hurriedly put the scope on her and dropped her in her tracks 10 feet from her dead female counterpart. My first Double on Coyotes called within a few minutes of each other.....talk about a rush, more fun and heart pounding than any Deer Hunting I've done in a long while. My Calling Partner has also taken down 2 Coyotes himself and I must say I couldn't have gotten most of the Coyotes if not for his creative calling and un-selfishness in letting me be the primary Shooter while he calls those wise predators in range and out of their hidden cover!

congrats on the double, I only have a 22 mag for coyotes and shot my only coyote with it, came to a mouth call. Nothing compares to the rush of predators running in to the call.

Congrats on the yote double!

Predator hunting is becoming a pressing need for us. Uncle had a group of four of them run by him yesterday afternoon and could not get them to stop with his mouth call. At dusk they sounded like they were everywhere in every direction.

You have got yourself a nice Rifle mate..The CZ 527 models are a nice piece of kit....The .204 is a great varminting caliber and as you know dropping yotes is a piece of cake..(As long as you place the projectile in the right spot)

Sounds like your yote hunting is identical to the way we hunt Foxes over here in Australia..(Calling them in with a caller).

I really like CZ rifles..I have a CZ 452 Standard .22LR in blued Walnut..(A great Rabbit Hunting rifle)

My Dad has a CZ 452 American Varmint in blued walnut .17HMR that is his Varminting Rifle...He also has a CZ 452 American in blued walnut .22LR.

Foxtrot....I can't brag enough about the CZ-USA Rifles...my .204 model 527 "Varmint" is one beautiful Rifle that performs as nice as it looks!I finally got some 39 grain Sierra Blitz King bullets and will re-sight my Rifle in again after I run out of the 32 grain shells. :D

Yeah,we have been doing a lot of Coyote Calling....my Partner is the best on the Howlers and barks...I seem to be best at the Distress Calls so far. Some times we go in quietly and just do some Howling/Barking,other times the Rabbit in Distress seeems to work the best!Hopefully I'll get the picture posting process down and add a few photo's......we tried to load some pictures while we were at Deer Camp but I need to have the pic's hosted at another Site to put on here?

I noticed there are several Hunters from Australia and the UK on another Hunting Site (www.204ruger.com)....great bunch of Guys over there too! :D :D

Update:

Things went pretty well down hill after Deer Season, the Coyotes weren't responding to most calls and with the warmer weather they didn't need to move as much. The Hunting finally picked up in early March and we had several encounters with Coyotes,I had 1 Coyote bounce past me and my Calling Partner ended up putting a scraggly old Female Coyote down on Public Land ,a few days later I hunted by myself on the Family Farm and I called in a nice healthy Male Coyote I plan on having Shoulder Mounted. The following weekend I shot at another Coyote deep in a holler on the same Public Land but couldn't find him since it was thick with downed tree's!

The Coyote Season has been closed since April 1st and start back up in early May...hopefully when the Farmers start cutting hay it will pick up again and get interesting again? In the mean time I plan on sighting my CZ .204 with the new 39 grain Sierra Blitz King bullets, buy a new Camo Shooting Chair and maybe even buy a new Savage or CZ model .223 Rifle!

I wish I had known the fur prices were up this year...the good yotes from here were going for somewhere just over 40$ which is the highest we've ever seen - normal is more around 20-25 for a good one...people were getting 20$ for rats of all things...7-8$ is usually a good average price on them. I would have really put some time in the fields I tell yah! too late now.

Hello Everyone....been getting back into Coyote Hunting now that the Season started up again. So far I've been hunting on several fresh cut hayfields and have seen more Deer and Turkey than anything else!I finally hit a field that was just cut and round bailed thru out a span of about 5 days, got a call that the Farmer saw a Coyote sitting down in a corner each time he made his rounds,I got in there and sat beside a big round bail doing a little light calling with a rabbit in distress call and some barking....bout 30-45 minutes an Old Gray Coyote walks out for the woods and put the cross-hairs on her and "Boom"...she shot into the woods again and I walked to where I last saw her looking for signs of blood then I walked into the woods 30 yards and walked the thick stuff looking for signs but couldn't find any?I headed back up to the old Farm House and talked with my Friend as we hid behind another tall round bale....here comes another Coyote running up-hill at us so I tried to get the Rifle up on the bale for a steady shot and the Coyote either saw or heard us and turned around running back the direction it came from...I did a few barks to get it to stop but it wasn't hanging around and no shots were fired! :(

Wolvenkinde.....just get an early start on it this year, there should be a lot more Coyotes and other Furbearers this year since most States had a pretty mild Winter. The Fur prices were pretty decent here in MO. this past Season too....at least more Hunters are getting into the Sport of Trapping and Hunting Predators now! :D

I'll be sure to be taking out the 3-5 that'll be getting after my chickens but will wait for the out of the way ones til winter when the fur primes up....still enough fun taking out the few that stay to close to me and the coons that come in too...will be doing quite a bit of crow shooting this year as well I can tell.
