This morning I raked a large area out from around the feeders and web cam. Then I broadcast a no till food plot mix by Remmington (I bought it locally - Cheap)

I spread the mix out rather thickly. I bought nough to cover 1/2 acre and placed it in a 400sqft area !

I then sprinkled a bit of 10-10-10 fertilizer out. It is a steady rain right now. In fact this is why I waited till this morning to put out the seed. I wanted it to get a good soaking.

I hope this will come on up as it is designed for a spring planting. I hope it will provide more deer sightings on the web cam for you guys.

I also plan on running to the store and getting some more apples. They really like those things !

You checked on your food plot to see if it's sprouting yet anthony?

Yes a few days ago I went up there and filled both feeders again. Tiny sprouts are coming up all over the place. Some of it looks like clover. I did not pay attention to what ws in the Remington Food Plot but I can go home and read what it has and let you know.

This was a spring plot mix designed as "no till". We will see how it works.

I just raked all the leaves and pinestraw back, revealing the black top soil. I then spread the mixture rather thickly and spread out some 10-10-10 fertilizer with it. We are expecting rain again tommorrow which is good. It will be interesting to see the plot come on up and become visible in the webcam.

My fear is that because it is small the 5 or 6 deer will eat it all up before it gets a chance to mature. the whole idea was try and get more deer sightings.

I know one thing that would do it: Unending supply of Apples ! I guess I need to design a Tube Apple dispensor.

Yes the food plot is not as miracluous as the documentation would lead you to believe. there millions of tiny sprouts coming up in various types. It has continued to be a slightly cold spring here so I dont think it has had a chance to really take off yet but a lot of it looks like clover. the green you now see on the ground with the new web camera is the food plot mix.

I am hoping it will take on off and grow. The soil is rich and black and we've had plenty of rain. I may find that the deer are just nipping it off as fast as it comes up.... we'll see.

How do you like the new web camera ?

the new cam is great. i really like that you can always see something at night. with the old camera, i could always see little eyes in the background or from squirrels at the close feeder, but i guess they were either too far or too little to activate the flash.
just a thought, but you might want to put up a small fence around a piece of the food plot. just take a piece of fencing wire (about 3ft tall) and make a circle with it (about 1ft in diameter). you can stake it in the ground so that the deer cant eat that part, and you can see how well the plot is growing.
great job on the plot, by the way! :D

The food plot came up but it was consumed before it could mature at all. Just thought I would post a final update on this.
