AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS STRANGE...THERE ARE 119 PICS FROM MY PROTEIN FEEDER.
!!!Roscoe as my witness, because he had his laptop; there were no pics on this card after we checked the Moultrie and realized that it was not working. Even after I get home and check the card again, there is an empty card.!!!

Very strange. I do the SD cards off our moultrie all the time...pretty easy not to screw up. My laptop showed no files on the stick what-so-ever!
And before yall get any ideas, this camera work was done in the middle of the day....not "after hours" by the campfire!

Along those lines, I just had something interesting happen on my I-40. Checked all my cams recently and removed SD cards to download pics. Brought one of the cameras back to the cabin with me. I ritually erase camera memory before replacing SD cards. Just for giggles, I checked to see if the internal memory on this camera had pix on it since the last time this SD card was removed. Sure enough, there were three pix! When I hooked the cam up to my computer via USB, it turns out the three pix on the internal memory were random duplicates of three pix out of the total of 30 found on the SD card. Not sure why the dups happened - I think the cold is a factor - but it is clear these cams sometimes do odd things with memory storage.

Tony I had to vote yes even though my ol'GameWatcher did work well for a long time. Just lately it has started taking pictures on it's own. Just burning up a roll of film on nothing!

I voted yes only because i have an i-60 that had whiteout issues. The problem with whiteouts seems fixed and i do get color pics most of the time. I think alot of times we "abuse" our cameras. I'm not sure with alot of other manufactures but when i talked to moultrie before I bought my i-60 the person I talked to said the battery life was based on 5 day time pics and 5 nite time pics a day. this sounds like trail use to me, I wonder how many other manufactures base the life of their cameras on an average like this. If we take these cams and set them up over a feeder, which alot of us do, me included then we get alot more pics than this, thus using these cams up. I'm not making excuses I just thought this was some interesting info that I'd pass along. I do agree sometimes manufactures do put out an inferior product that does not live up to what it should (I'll never buy a new cudde, probably), I've also wondered how much of these problems occur in shipping, electronics in a box being thrown around who knows how many times in the back of a truck or warehouse or store. I wonder if there is a difference in the amount of problems from cams bought from stores and cams ordered directly from the manufaturer?

Thanks to everybody that participated.

It appears that the results ended up 25 with probs and 9 w/out.

Hopefully, the 25 w/ issues will find a Moultrie that is dependable and the 9 w/out probs won't turn into 9 with probs.

GOOD INFO.

my moultrie arrived not really packed to good from wing supply co.

why they dont use foam is beyond me.

my camera would not take a picture and it showed code 003000.defective ir flash.

so, maybe they are getting banged around.

maybe a post can be started on if your camera was shipped or you bought it at store but a lot of stores get it shipped in mail also before we get it,so this may mean nothing .

I've had an I-60 for over a year probably taken nearly 25k to 30k pics. Never had a problem other than the whiteouts and they were minimal. I like the camera a lot but i probably wouldn't buy another.

Folks, I'm not trying to create a bandwagon for people to jump on. I'm just really disappointed and frustrated in Moultrie's track record of not being able to manufacture a camera that is realiable.

Once again, I'm not trying to make this a bash session. I know there are many other cam manufacturers out there and I should just move on. But, the fact is, I really thought that Moultrie had/has some of the best cameras on the market.

Now, I simply want to get a consensus of how many folks have had problems with Moultrie cams.

If you choose to vote, thanks in advance for participating.

Tony

Guess I'm a little late on the poll I have 6 moultries 3 spy D 40's and 3 I40's apparently 08 models I bought them in March 08. The spy D 40 out performs the I40 by far. I bought the I40's because of the no flash. You have to be within 10 to 15 feet before the I40 will trigger. I will not buy anymore I40's I can get 2 spy D's for the price of one I 40 very disappointed. This is a case of live and learn tbone

Even though the poll is closed I will respond. I have been a Moultrie user since film cameras. However I could by a new camera for the postage I have spent sending defective cameras back to Moultrie. I have since switched to another camera brand as I currently have two more Moultrie units that are not functioning correctly..
