I bought a prowler model in january, mailed in the rebate pronto, made it into their system
on feb 12th. I am still waiting for the $100 rebate, with no promise date of rebate.

I called them and they (Stealthcam) indicated that the rebate was a huge success, and that they are running slower than 6-8 weeks, well okay, its ONLY been 14 weeks for mine !

UG, I am through with Stealthcam if that is the way they run a business, independant of the product that they produce.

It took them about 6 months to get my rebate check to me, I just about gave up on ever getting it. So yes, I had an issue, but at least they got it to me eventually.

well, make that 19 weeks and counting, no promised date yet, but they said to wait 2 more weeks (after waiting 3 weeks). I called the retailer that I bought it from, just to give them an extra nudge, they said WOW, thats a line of bull crap ! HEY, they are still offering a rebate on that same product - we will look into that.

I wonder if ol Stealthcam isnt running into a financial crisis and cant afford $100 numerous times...............

food for thought fellers !

Well, today, the website indicates July 9th, the check should be issued. Lets see, only 5 months, thats pretty fast service.

I would hope that their (STEALthcam's) customer service is faster than their rebate service.

Fod for thought fellers.

I don't know about Stealth, but rebates are usually farmed out to other companies. These companies are incentivized to reduce payout. The best way to do this is to delay as long as possible. First, fewer people are needed to process the rebates if turn-around time is slow. Second, is float. The longer they hold the money the more they can make in daily interest on it. Third, the longer between the purchase and receipt of the check, the greater the chance a consumer will fail to cash the check. Most rebate checks also have a short time until the check is considered stale. You will also notice, that most rebate processors will make sure every "I" is dotted and every "T" is crossed. If you missed any detail, they will mail back the application to you. This increases float and the chances the consumer will say "the heck with it".

Just one man's thought...

Jack

Good info Jack. I agree with you. I have more data as well. I called Stealth and mentioned that they should consider a different 3rd vendor to farm out the rebates. They got behind them 100% (the current rebate vendor) and told me that the rebate people were great, and that it was not a SCAM. I to;d them that the SCAM issue is yet to be determined, and that when the check arrives, then I would believe it!

I am not sure if either company was being 100% honest in their responses, but the rebate company told me that they were swamped with rebates for this offer, and that they were also waiting for the funds from Stealth. No Stealth $$$, no rebate check, makes sense.

Now, if I were stealth, and had funded the operation, I would be breathing down the rebate company to distribute the funds.

Ug, not a good situation.

You could tell them you are dropping a complaint to the Better Buisness Bureau.

I made my purchase on Jan 31st and mailed in the rebate forms within a week. I received an email from GSM yesterday, July 14th, indicating my rebate check was mailed on July 10th and should arrive within 15 days.

Ironically, the warranty has expired on my Stealth Prowler before my rebate check was sent.

Also, I've had to return defective Prowlers twice and the last replacement was a refurbished unit out of "B" stock!

So, with all the returns and time, I've paid to have it shipped twice, I've only had a camera in the field for a total of a couple weeks since I bought it. I now have a "B-Stock" camera that I'm just starting to test in the field.

I doubt I'll be buying another GSM product anytime soon....

Thanks,

Jack

Jack

I did receive my rebate check on 7-15-2008, mailed to them 01-30-2008, was officially entered in their 'system' (the rebate company) on 2-12-2008.

They spent the rest of the time 'verifying the accuracy of the information submitted'.

I propose, that GSM did not have money to fund the overwhelming response to the rebate submittals until later when their 2008/9 models were hitting the dealers.

I doubt that I will be in the market for any more of their products in the future either.

PS, I did order one of their other models, and to be fair, they were 'on-time' with that rebate
about 6-7 weeks.

A few years back, I bought 3 stealth cams.

I mailed in the rebates and they claimed the model was wrong.

Thing is the rebate thing specificly said that model.

They f-ed me around forever until the rebate was expired.

Never saw a cent.

Plus the cams were total garbage.
