Do you think it would work if I rigged 2 6 volt lantern batteries in series to create a 12 volt power supply? Do you think this would provide longer lasting power than the standard 6 D batteries? I believe to make this connection I connect the (-) from one batt. to the (+) of the next and then connect the remaining open terminals to the cam.

I'm using a Moultrie D40 and planned on creating a plug to connect to the external jack.

Anyone see any problems with this setup?

I do not know the amp hour rating on them but my guess is they are higher than the D cells. so yes this should work fine. Just make sure you get the polarity right.

That is how I made my 12v for the D40. I don't have a 12v charger and have plenty of 6v batteries for my other cameras. Made more sense to me to buy another couple of 6, so I always have fresh ones to swap out. I hooked it up just like you would a 24v trolling motor with a jumper wire.

It works fine and they'll last longer than one 12V. Just wire them up correctly.

???? I though 6D batteries = 9 volts. Will the Moultrie D40 run on 12 volts???

I have 4 Battery packs made from 2- 6 volt batterys. Made battery holders from blue plastic coffee containers that have the indented handle. 2 -6 volt batterys will fit in the containers side by side. You can buy 6 volt battery and charger at (spottsmanguide.com ) for $9 bucks each.Made cable from some old wall
power supplys with 2.1mm ID X 5mm OD Barrels for Camera Connection , w/alligator clips on the other end.
Have been useing them for 4 years on Stealt STS-540,STS-590, now i use them on STS-Delta 8, STS-Titan and Moultrie M-80. Works great on all of them. ( Camoufladged containers with brown and black paint. All have + middle connecting barrel ends.

Does these connectors provide a good and stable connection on the M80?
