2012 Uway U-150 30 count red flash 8 MP digital
camera report
Known this year as the Vigilant Hunter series of cameras this 5.5X4 inch
black box with a fall brown camouflage front is
all new for this year. The camera sticks out off
the tree about three inches and has the cable
loop and strap loop built into the back. This is
a very compact camera. The 30 count array is at
the top front and the main lens and PIR sensor
is just below. There is an insert on the back
for their accessory mount but no tri-pod insert
on the bottom.
The external battery port has the center pin that is not centered so it
would require the plug to be forced into the
jack. There is also a 6 volt indicator and no
polarity marking for that port. The weather seal
was tight and the latches seemed to be firm.
Inside there is the SD card port on the front
edge and the main switch and USB/ext Battery
ports on bottom edge. Top center is the view
screen (playback video/pictures) and
programming. Below is the associated control
buttons. The back of the camera is the battery
compartment (8 AA) with a built in keeper.
Part of our research showed what looks like a significant change in the
warranty on these cameras. It indicated that it
is much like Bushnell which requires a payment
for shipping and handling in order to get the
work done on this 1 year period. Replacement
cameras do not get that period extended past the
original cameras purchase + 1 year period. Their
Uovision cameras have a straight 2 year warranty
with no pay as you go. There is an audible clunk
during transition which occurs twice per day.
The main switch location up under the camera rim is a bit of a hassle
because you have to use the switch by feel and
not by sight when mounted in the standard
manner. Maybe after some use, one could remember
just how each position feels, but it is still
somewhat troubling.

On the sensing tests the
camera triggered at 60 feet at 79 degrees.
06-03-2012 update:
The final figures on the battery life was a
total of about 35 days and it took 5025 pictures
and 27 videos in that time. This review is
closed.
