02-10-2008 Wow, good things are happening and we are announcing the upcoming review of some folks that are just now coming on board with some new cameras. The outfit goes by the name of huntingcamonline, (HCO for short). They are hitting the market with three new cameras. They are rated at 3, 5, and 8 mp and these cameras are doing some things that has not been done before. We got surprised when Bushnell came out with there switch programmable cams and this was followed by the Wildview cameras that had their version of the switch setup. Spypoint also had a portion of their programming with yet another setup. These folks probably have the most simple approach on their 3 mp cam and with the 5 and 8 mp cams they have added a joy stick to do some of the functions that is over and above the basic 3.0 mp cam. Here is probably the best news. The battery source is a rechargeable lithium ion cell. Battery life is expected to range from 30 to 60 days depending on number of triggers and weather (cold). Delay period is from 10 seconds to 990 seconds. This is a very nice feature. The memory is limited to 2 gig SD/MMC and there is also a small amount of internal memory. Color day and IR at night being is done with 40 IR emitters in the array. Fully adjustable PIR sensor will be looking for those critters that want to skirt the area. For those who need that extended battery life setup these cams also have an external battery port. Movie mode is 320X240 JPG/AVI to 30 seconds. The pre shipping documentation did not make mention of trigger time, but even if it is in the 2 second range these cams should be very popular. All the other normal features are like burst 3 mode, date/time stamp, TV out PAL/NTSC, water proof case, software bundle, low battery indicator (battery status), 2” LCD display on the 5 and 8 mp cams, and mode is wheel driven. Two plastic loops in the back for hanging it on a tree so security is not a high point and we see no mention of pass word protection. I will have to go to work and get a security box ready for these cams prior to leaving them in the testing area. These cams will arrive this week and we will get going on the testing.
