I would put lithiums in it, in that case, not regular alkalines. You're looking at six weeks, which the alkalines may do, but you'll have a better shot with lithiums.

Amazon has them $12 for 8 but you can sometimes find them for a little less. Once you are able to set up your external, you won’t have to deal with them any more.

I've found the best place to consistently get decent deals on lithium AAs is to find them on ebay. I recently paid $15.99 for a package of 12. Not too bad when you consider you'll get up to 3 months or more out of them depending on use. Same seller now has 32 batteries for $40. Guess he got tired of selling them 12 at a time.
