I have received yesterday the BG668-E36WG that is one of the new cameras from boly for 2019 and I want to share my experience by using this camera by doing something like a review. If that's not the best place to post please change to a more appropriated section, I was not sure if post here or on the Boly/Trail Cam Reviews section.
Here is a list of the features from the boly site:
-Molnus Cloud service for all over the world
-Online preview by APP or web portal
-Ultra fast image and video transmission
-36MP picture resolution and 4k video
-Wide angle lens
-100ft. lighting and detection range
-Supports GPS function and password protection
-Supports up to 32GB SD card
-5*18650 rechargeable batteries or 8*AA batteries
-Free mobile application available for IOS, Android, and Windows, click here to download
-Supports solar and external power supply
What caught my attention is the fact that this camera is using a 14MP image sensor and the ability of using 5* 18650 batteries (I'm courios to see how long they can last). I was also interested of the Molnus system, I didn't found any review of this system.
I also bought the solar panel with the power bank (BC-02), I already own one and it's doing really well with another cell camera.
Here are a couple of picture of the boxes and what were inside:
Here is a sample pic while I was playing with the camera in the garden. The first is the original image (14MP) from the sd card the second is the one that has been send to the portal to the lowest resolution (there are three settings: low, normal, hight/original image)
I have placed the camera on the field, here is how is looking Locked Sending Mode:
This camera can send image and video via MMS, GPRS, Molnus.
Molnus is a platform where image and video are uploaded, you can use an application for your phone or a web platform on your computer.
Now my camera is sending image via the Molnus platform here are a few pictures I have received, the fist are the images downloaded from the app, the second are the originals downloaded from the sd card:
Image were all send using the low settings, in certain case it’s hard to read the date and time but on the app you can see clearly because it’s highlighted. Before using the Molnus system I thought that there would be more information show at the camera page, like Boly show on their site. Like battery level, signal, sd card space. But the only thing I see is when the last picture as been uploaded. I contacted the support for having more information and I’m waiting a response.
I have received a response and it's a bug that have to be resolved, should be done soon.
Another thing is the settings that you can change, they are limited. You can’t change all the settings. I hope that there will be an update to change this.
I didn’t receive any notification when a picture is uploaded, I have to go into the application for see if a picture as been uploaded. I don’t know if is a problem with my phone or if is a problem of the application, I’m waiting a reply from the Molnus support.
They have quickly reply me and now I can receive notifications. They also told me that they are happy to receive some suggestion and feedback so they can develop more interesting feature that the user want. So I hope there will be new updates.
Battery Life:
On their site is advertised that the camera can send >500 MMS or/and (didn't know what they mean) 400 videos (interval=5 mins, video length=10 secs). You can have a look at they page under technical parameters.
Now I'm using the camera with 8 AA Lithium battery, I will tell you how long they last.
I have ordered some cheap 18650 batteries to use with the solar panel and the camera. This batteries need to be pointed head and max 65mm long, if they are longer they won't fit.
The power bank that goes with the solar panel needs 4*18650 batteries, this batteries will be charged throught the solar panel, and will be the first power for the camera. The batteries inside the camera are the second power used when the external power source is not charged.
When I have time I will update this post with more information and image/video.
I hope this can be helpfull, I'm not a Native English speaker so forgive me if I make mistakes, I try to do the best.
